Questions about backlinks

I have a few questions about backlinks which I need sorted because I am getting a headache lol.

How do I find backlinks? Do I just keep googling

If they are blogs, how do I use my link? Like Anchor text or somthing?

If they are profiles, do I use anchor text?

What is Do Follow and NoFollow?

Thats it really. I am just having loads of problems with blogs trying to build backlinks. I have no idea at all what I am doing.

1. Good place to start, pretty sure I have seen a couple of threads about the different footprints to search for. Look those up and use them. Once you have the process down I would invest in scrapebox. Make the process much quicker.

2. Always use anchor text if you can. A links will really not help you rank for a particular keyword with out the proper anchor text.

4. Well "do follow" is the default there is no tag for that. The "nofollow" tag was originally design to keep pr from flowing through a link I believe. While there is some disagreement on exactly how much if any weight Google gives nofollow links they will not hurt you in anyway. If you are building your links manually I would skip them. No since in spending time building a link that might not do you any good.

Once you have automated the process I would personally not worry one way or the other. If you automate the process you can build the links fast enough that a few nofollow links is not really an issue. It takes more time to sort them out than it is worth.

For profile links there is usually either a place for you to list your website and/or there is an "about me" section. You can use html links in most about me sections to drop your links... Just write a line or two about yourself and include the code: <a href="url">Link text</a> This will give you the right anchor text for your website.

Before you automate the process (scrapebox, xrumer, etc) you should learn how to do it by hand so that you can understand the process. I have actually almost abandoned most automated blog commenting and gone to manual anyway.

Also, you can search the download area for the "Free Blog Commenter". It is a semi-automated process which will find blogs for you and help you comment.

getting the backlink is one thing, getting it indexed is another thing. if google never indexes your backlink, google never crawls the page and therefore never crawls to your page.

so if you build 10k backlinks and 500 are indexed and of those 500 there are 100 outbound links per page, you basically just loaded your site full of crappy backlinks, which is why people don't understand why blasting with scrapebox doesn't work everytime. try and find low (very low) outbound links on the page you are trying to drop your link on, then get it indexed.

with google it's about th quality of your backlink now, not just the quantity. good luck!

There are a couple of add ons that flag up do follow or no follow in Firefox, or you can look at the page source code and see if it contains no follow in the code.

Anchor text containing your keyword is best. To get you started, why don't you check out Angela and Pauls backlinks, they did have a freebie on their site showing you all this stuff so you can see photos.
