So I started up a squidoo page a long time ago and I'm just now continuing work on it. I wrote 10 articles on ezinearticles and I made one sale after about a month or two. I stopped working on it and I just randomly made another sale about 6 to 8 months later, which I thought was pretty cool.

I started working on trying to get it to rank higher in google by building backlinks by posting some half-decent blog comments. I got a tool called PR Backlink Generator and I thought it was really cool because it showed the PR of all the blogs I was about to post to.

So I went through about 100 blogs in an hour, and out of all of those probably half of them actually got links posted to them, maybe less or possibly more. Many of my comments were on old blog posts and they said something about awaiting moderation, so I doubt they'll ever get through. All of my comments were relevant and some of them were useful or contributing to the discussion.

First off, I was wondering, how good is PR Backlink Generator really? Most of the blogs were on wordpress.com and I get the feeling that's being too good to be true, like maybe they're nofollow or google won't like that I posted so many links in a day.

Also, does it matter that I posted (or tried to post) so many links in a day? I still have about 300+ to go according to this program, and I want to do them all and get my squidoo lens higher in rank. It's already on the first page at the bottom, thankfully, but it's not getting that much traffic or making enough sales it seems.

Another thing, if get in the top 5 or top 3, should I keep building links and writing articles for a good while and then stop so I can move on? Is there any other way to get more sales, like posting more content to the blog and such? This niche doesn't seem to generate too much traffic, so I wanted to make a bit of money to start up adsense minisites, which leads me to part 2 of this post:

How are adsense sites for making money? I've basically found that most people make about 30 to 100 sites and each one makes like $1 daily, so it adds up. But I wanted to know, how permanent are they? Will they stay at the same rank on google's first page for a long time? Can I make one and immediately start building backlinks, or should I wait a month and then build tons of links?

Finally, can you build links too fast for adsense sites or squidoo lenses, or anything? I've heard all kinds of stuff, like not to post on the same IP too much (so I guess all those wordpress backlinks I made today are bad, are they?), to not use the same name in comments, to make useful or contributing comments, etc.

    Thanks a lot

top 5 or top 3 in what keyword dude? Different keyword have different competition
About adsense, it depends on your site. Some sites can earn better with affiliate, some with pure cpa, and else..

I won't give away my keywords, but I'm talking about a micro niche. Now that I think about it, I probably shouldn't have chosen a micro niche for an affiliate landing page, but it can also rank for broader searches too

    Hey DenimFrank,

I've never used PR backlink generator so I can't say anything about its credibility but I can answer your other questions.

With regards to building too many backlinks to your squidoo lens, don't worry about it. Squidoo gets millions of new backlinks everyday. A new squidoo lens can spread like wildfire if its on a hot topic. Since this is so common google is not likely to notice your lens has an unusual amount of links.

With regards to moving on: You should continue your linking campaign, but you should also move on. You can happily create just a few links everyday to keep your site on the move to the #1 position (which is the one you want right!) while working on other projects.

With regards to adsense sites: Adsense sites are profitable. I have a portfolio of about 15 sites that I am in the process of SEO'ing and its working out well. They are all just simple micro niche sites.

My advise is to build backlinks slowly at first, then increase that number over time. Don't build a ton right at the start, but don't just let it sit there and then suddenly hit your site with 300 backlinks either.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

Hey, thanks a lot. I might throw you a PM soon.

For anyone else who could be so kind, PR Backlink Generator searches for blogs with keywords you specify and then organizes them by PR, so I got about 400 pages all PR4+. I built between 50 and 100 backlinks yesterday to my squidoo lens, and now I know that it doesn't matter if I did it too fast. The thing is, most of these backlinks are from wordpress blogs, so I was wondering if those count or are nofollow, which I heard was something google was doing now I guess.

Also, what about ezinearticles? I'm guessing those are mostly for traffic rather than the PR6 backlink because I heard those are nofollow or something too, right? But getting more traffic to the site from them helps me get a higher rank in google too, so I know I should continue writing articles instead of just getting decent PR backlinks, right?

anyway, my lens is at the bottom (second to last spot) of google's first page, which I think is pretty awesome considering the small amount of work I've done for it. Once I get it to the top or as close as I can, I'll probably move on if it still doesn't make too many sales. Or I'll rework the site and SEO it better and such

You should definitely get a few links from ezine.
By having a greater variety of links you increase you sites credibility in google eyes.

Well, I keep hearing that it's best to write hundreds of articles, people say to write about 10 articles a day so I can have 300 at the end of the month to get a huge amount of sales or something. I have 13 right now since I'm just starting this stuff up again.

You won't get a huge amount of sales. You'll get an average of about 1 a day (depending on your product).
In my opinion it is far better to have a few well crafted articles then hundreds of useless ones.
I would advise you not to waste your time pumping out hogwash.
If you want some help on how to write articles that get buying customers send me a pm.

Alright, I'm wondering about something different now.

A lot of the articles I wrote on EzineArticles have been buried by other articles and competition. But about half of them have been replaced by other people stealing my articles, spinning them, and then somehow getting them to rank higher than my own articles, the originals. They're obviously better than I am at this stuff, but I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some techniques to help my old articles rank higher again. They were doing really well until that stuff happened.

I'm not interested in taking down their articles because I doubt I could get that done.

Also, I have about 70+ PR4 and above backlinks on blogs related to my nich to my squidoo lens now, as well as about 100 weekly visits which seems to be mostly organic traffic now. I'm pretty sure I could be doing a lot better for myself, but I'm not sure how anymore. Article writing is failing me, probably because I'm not writing with the right keywords, so I think I know how to change that. But even with all those backlinks and all the traffic I've gotten over time, my squidoo page is only at the 8th position on google's 1st page. I did just add these backlinks a little while ago, so am I speaking too soon? They're definitely registering according to yahoo and market samurai, so I'm not sure what to think just yet.

Anyway, I'm still not working hard enough, but I'm definitely working more and more all the time.

lol man i think your doing a GOOD job. You gettng good links and getting good hits to your site. 100 weekly visits is not the best but maybe your niche is HIGHLY targeted so it might be good. doesnt matter how many visitors you get, if they convert it doesnt matter if its 1 visitor a day.

just keep doing what your doing cause its what everyone here does, start doing some profil pages as well. they help alot

Profile pages? Sorry, I'm still new, but I'm guessing that's making accounts on related forums and putting my link in the profile, right?

Anyway, thanks man. I've only gotten like two affiliate sales in maybe 8 months of the page being up, but at least it proves that money can, in fact, be made from doing this stuff. I just want to rank higher, so I'll keep writing articles and backlinking, and I still need to use social bookmarking and maybe some other stuff I wrote down somewhere.

Another thing I noticed is that my competition kinda sucks; low PR except two youtube and two ezinearticles that rank kinda low anyway, mostly not optimized though I have squidoo so I can't do much about that myself, and the only page with more backlinks than me has like 225, which I'll overtake easily pretty soon. But the domain age is high for all of them. Could that be one reason why I'm still at #8?

Thanks again guys, I know I ask a lot of questions, I'm still new to this stuff but I seem to be doing pretty well for my first try.

So I either forgot how to write good articles or the keywords I'm choosing suck. My new articles are actually lowering my CTR on EZA.
