    Hi,

I recently bought a website and I'm looking to improve its SEO by specifying the category in the URL. But I realized that if I do this, it will cause the previous URL's to become dead, which would ruin backlinks and internal links.

    Ex. From www.example/post to www.example/category/post

Does anyone have a good suggestion on how to overcome this?

    Hey xxaxle,

I'm pretty sure that redirecting should solve your problem. I'm talking about 301 redirects, just look it up by searching 'redirection' on SEO moz website, they even have a video tutorial explaining it. Surely they will explain the method to you better than I could ever do. :) Best of luck!

Or even better, get one of the gazillion plugins out there that will do it for you without you having to get your hands all messy.
