Instead of using useless anchors like: click here, more information and so on.... instead why not to generate long list of your target page relevant anchors and use these to diversify. Also if anchor text matters at all, this way in theory should get you more organic traffic from related searches.

    Your opinion matters.

I pretty much agree with your anchor text idea and that's what i'm also doing at the moment.Combining brand terms with relevant anchors.
None the less, anchor texts such as click here, go here, read more etc. are still useful when we want to place the main keyword next or before the anchor text so it gives relevance to google without actually using an exact match or long-tail.

An example of that would be: "Blackhatworld is an online community dedicated to White-Hat SEO.If you're interested in learning new seo strategies click here"
Where "seo strategies" is our main keyword.

Usage of anchor text is not so limited. So, you have to select the appropriate keyword for anchor text.

You can also use the niche as your keyword.Because visitors will have more attention on it.

Try to avoid long-tail keywords because the users may not get it quickly.

If you go too diverse and random then it waters down your anchor percentages and eventually rank. You want diverse... but on topic. Obviously you can't over spam your exact keyword, but you can find relevant LSI, longtails of it, brand terms, and industry terms that will help keep you diverse enough to avoid a slap from Google while not wasting too much link juice.

You should be contextual up to a point. But take a look at how REAL people link, they often say things like

I found this great site called greatsite.com

They very often don't link directly using either brand names or keywords. But notice that the name/site/keyword is CLOSE to the link.

Okay, I agree with your words. If you are going in that way probably you should end up with a penalty for over optimization of anchor text. Anchors should be placed naturally. In SEO anchor text diversification is very important diversification keep you away from Google's penalty. While optimizing the anchors you should be careful in maintaining the ratio or else it doesn't look natural to the Google. There is no perfect formula to calculate. But, I suggest you to follow the expert guidelines in diversifying the anchors
