Okay, so I have found a keyword I want to target, its low comp, decent traffic, but I would like to rank fairly quickly with it.

The keywords.com is available and I will probably buy.

    My question is:

Would it be better (or quicker) to create a wordpress account, create keywords.wordpress.com, rank for that (as wordpress is aged and authority) then once ranked buy the domain and use it on the wordpress blog...

    or

buy the domain and rank that as normal.

Which method would be quicker? If i push too many links to a new domain its likely to get penalized whereas a wordpress.com subdomain will be less likely to get penalized due to its authority.... am I correct in saying this?

    Any info?

    Cheers.

If you can afford to buy a domain, do it. You can still rank very quickly. Still make the wordpress blog and use it to add posts linking to your domain.

I just built a dentist site locally and it's already on page 1 with just some web 2.0's using LWB. I started about 2 weeks ago and I've only hit the site with 5 days worth of lwb posts, it's currently sitting at #7.

I don't think it really matters how new a site is as it does the competition. If it's easy competition, you should be able to rank easily. Just don't be stupid with your backlinking, keep it reasonable, and you should be fine. If you blast it with a million shit SB and Xrumer links, expect it to fail. If you hit it with a mixture of descent and spammy links, you should be fine.

By your explanation, all of my new sites should be failing because shitty xr and sb links account for 95% + of all my links. Good thing thats now how shit works, otherwise I'd be in trouble!

LOL I was gonna say the same... Going mad at your sites hurts for sure, but if you keep building links constantly, it works wonders. (provided you don't leave your link on every porn blog you see)

95%+ is the key number here. I'm sure if you read my post you would have realized I didn't say it was a bad idea, I just said mix it up and don't put everything you do into spam. Sure, you can blast a site day in and day out with spam links but eventually the site is going to be noticed, and it could drop like a ton of bricks. If you're in it for a quick buck, more power to you, but spam links will only get you so far for anything worth ranking for.

I very rarely do direct blasts to my sites anyways. I usually create high quality web2.0's or pay for a blog posts on a PR4-7 blog that is relevant then blast those.

I was just wondering if it would be quicker and safer to rank a keyword.wordpress.com domain or just stick to a new domain.

Buy the domain and rank for that. The domain and proper spreading of the keyword throughout the site will surely help it get indexed and will boost its
rankings and site placings in Google for sure.
