I made a blog recently on Tumblr (using a bot) and so far I've got about 100 followers and a bit of activity.

I'm noticing though that it seems like almost all of the people following me are other blogs that have to do with adult content. I'm just wondering why that is... And then I remember I purposely flagged my account account as adult content. Was that a bad thing to do?

I'm just wondering now if the majority of people don't bother changing their search settings to allow them to view adult content? Maybe for spamming reasons I should make a new account with adult content and not flag my own account?

Not flagging your account will get your account banned faster (because tumblr bans, sooner or later).

Ok I gotcha. I kind of figured that too. I heard that the accounts will get banned sooner or later.. But I was just sort of wondering if not flagging would get me a lot more traffic.

I've got over 2k followers, made them a little over 10 days. And even though i'm making about 120 new followers per day my user activity sucks really bad, i upload high quality content only.. This is annoying the hell out of me, i'm about to quit tumblr.

I can see why it would annoy you, but if it pays off and you really need Tumblr, you do what you have to do.

I'm thinking tumblr sucks to be honest. I mean, i'm only following 1k blogs and my dashboard gets about 100 new entries per 30 seconds. How the hell am i going to get exposure when i publish my own stuff?

People are doing money with tumblr using bots and having like 1k tumblr blogs at their disposure. But i'm doing it manually, uploading hand picked and great content. My blog is even unique and people message me all the time telling me how they love it, but the system sucks, i upload like 5 posts a day. How can i beat those that upload like 50.. I want to keep the quality, if it doesn't work that way then i rather quit it i guess

Tumblr isn't what it used to be since it was bought by yahoo. You will get banned if you don't flag

I was making great money with click through links to my money site. I built my adult tumblr up to over 100k followers and I was receiving insane traffic until they deleted my account. I've made several other accounts since but have never been able to build up to that original without being banned. I was on my way to $100 per day!

I'd suggest just reblogging photos and not posting anything directly from your own account. Tumblr wont delete an accoutn that simply reblogs . Start a second tumblr blog with a different IP and be sure never to log into the original or vice versa on the same IP. Doing that even once will connect the two and if they delete your second blog the original will go with it. Post images with click through links on the secondary blog then reblog them onto the main blog.

Would you mind telling me how many posts did you make per day on your account and at what times were you posting(and what timezone), mostly?

I haven't used bots so far but i'm thinking about doing it, i opened my account with uploading everything by hand always in mind, but i can't compete with botters uploading something every minute. I mean, if someone follows a thousand guys, that person is getting like 200 hundred posts per minute on their feed, if they are following 5000, it would be impossible for them to see me as i currently stand.

Ok, well you need to wrap your head around the fact that you are speaking in these sentiments about primarily bots. So yeah, you won't get many click from that. The game here is to have a high perceived trust factor due to having a high following. Thus you do follow the other bots(if you want). Some people don't, and they have actual methods they use on tumblr to generate organic followings. It's true this is a better strategy, but you don't see anyone sharing how they do that, right?

Don't just jump into tumblr thinking that without practical or time-tested strategies you're going to succeed. Unless you really know what you are doing on Tumblr, then most likely you may taste small success only to have the rug swept out from under your feet. I bet with some real poking around it wouldn't be that hard to see what the smart botters do to generate the organic real user click-throughs.

One big thing here is to be sure you do aggressively target following REAL users in addition to the bots. So, I would consider spending some time finding real tumblr users and identifying distinctive qualities about how real people act on tumblr as opposed to how bots do. Think of it this way. The user you want to be following you is the one who is not a marketer, but who has a passion for adult material. This person is not excessively tagging posts because they are a casual user - not particularly trying to build a following, but they are real, and they engage with other users content, i.e. they re-blog it, like, favorite, etc....

They don't have 100,000 blogs to which they are subscribed. They don't have tons of followers, or posts for that matter, but they have some. They WILL see your posts and engage.

There are a lot of journeys and journals and method threads here related to tumblr and bots in general. If you're going to play on tumblr in adult you are correct in assessing that it won't work without the bots. You'd have to be a pornstar, which seems unlikely.

Tumblr is always a pain, because as stated above, sooner or later you WILL get banned. No matter what. But you need to be presistent and there are a couple things you can do that make sure you retain traffic even if your account gets banned.

1.) Set up a dedicated twitter and link it to your account. Set your account to auto publish everytime your publish on Tumblr. You will get a decent amount of traffic and followers.
2.) Set up an actual domain. Make sure it is niche related. You will need a few of these if you keep getting banned.
3.) You have to be reblogging and liking posts. If you do this all through bots you will be wasting alot of time.
4.) Make sure all your captions have some type of CTA that is hyper linked. "Follow me" "click here for more *insert niche*" etc.. Most bots allow you to spin this so you should have a couple.
5.) Set up IFTTT and link your Instagram and Tumblr. Set the rule so when you like someting in the niche on Instagram, it autopost that to Tumblr. Make sure you keep the username and caption when you publish. I am sure you can find some "Adult" related instagrams for this.

Now here is the part that will save you alot of time if you get banned. Remember that Domain you set up for your Tumblr, well that will always have value. When people reblog your content, that content stays on who ever reblogged its site, even when yours is gone. As soon as your account is banned, make sure you go into your domain registrar and set up a 301 redirect to what your new Tumblr is going to be.

Link your new tumblr back to your same twitter. Sure you will have to start back at 0 followers, but throw 100 pieces of content on that new tumblr right away, and the 301 will direct people back to Tumblr. You will gain followers back in the 100s a day.

This can be used for any niche too.

    Hope it helps...

I was posting the max images allowed per day. I think it was 100 or so. On top of that , I would also reblog other photos from blogs i followed with a note to follow my blog. I was using bloadr and then picloadr to upload all the images then just set the queue to post between 6pm est and 2 am . That seems like the best time to post. Another tip, make sure your blog has a good name that has to do with the niche. Naming your blog john123.tumblr.com wont help. I would also look to reblog imagesthat have thousands of likes. Anyone who has liked that image or reblogged it will get a note if they are on tumblr that you have reblogged it. If you can manage to keep your tumblr from getting banned you can make serious money by driving traffic .
