    Hello everyone!

I have a little question about ranking an amazon associate website on google. I haven't been able to rank myself in the first page since I started in IM I would say 5 months ago, and I think this is because of my poor keyword research. Since then, I learned a lot more and I am ready to start over with something new.

    So my question is,
Is it easy to rank a website when on LongTailPro, the keyword competitiveness is 47 (for the main keyword), but all the links are from big ecommerce sites like Pier1, Walmart, Wikipedia, Amazon, Ebay ...

I know 47 is considered as moderate-high competitiveness, but at the same time, Ive seen here on BHW that if there is big ecommerce website links like I just said, they are easy to unrank since they are not specific about a niche.

    I am a bit confused :)

Thanks for any help guys !

47 is high. For long tail keywords, I target a maximum of 35, this means you can rank it easily. I also check the top 10 before I decide on a keyword. Some are less than 30, but they would be very hard because everyone is trying to target that same keyword. Good luck!

    Thanks mate !
When you mean you check out the top 10, you mean you check out if there is any niche specific site to this keyword right ?
If it's website like Pier1, Walmart, Wikipedia, Amazon, Ebay it means it's good to go ?

    Thank you :)

47 is quite high, you're gonna need a lot of effort to rank that, for niche sites, I don't go with keywords over the competitiveness of 30.

Apart from 47 competition score, most of the top ranking sites are ecommerce like you said, so meaning for this specific keywords, google have already "favour" them rather than content rich site.

I see, thanks for clearing this out :)

If I find a keyword arround 20-30 and I see those big ecommerce website, it still means it's a good keyword right ?

I think one of the most important things here is - those high authority ecomm sites - are the pages ranking targeting those terms, or are they a related product/page ?

When there's nothing dead on the keyword, Google tries to grab the related stuff from authority sites to still deliver some quality. If that is the case and you make a website that is 10x more relevant, you will outrank them -> you'll provide more value to the customer and Google is looking for that. A few juicy PBN links to make a bigger point will help speed up the process too! :p

haaa perfect ! Yeah most of the times they are related product and not specific keyword targeted product.

Well that clears up my mind, thanks for all the support guys.

Long live to BHW :) !
