Question - Local Restaurants - Selling Ad Space

    So I have a method and wondering if anyone has tried, or can give advise on the following:

    - Keyword research for local Restaurants with good/low comp
    - Do this for 2-3 keywords
    - Register Domains
    - Rank for top position

    Contact the local Restaurants in the area and show them the 2-3 domains which get x-amount of traffic. These are people looking for good restaurants in the area.

    So here are my thoughts, contact the 2nd or 3rd BEST restaurants in the area and offer free 1-2 months of AD space then tell them the charge will be like $99/month or something like that.

    Then contact the BEST restaurant in the area and advise them that your are looking for advertisers and show them the 2-3 mid-ranking Restaurants and offer $99/m or so and see if they take bait as they will see their competitor already displayed in the AD.

    So summary is, have a few GOOD LOW COMP keywords for that area.
    When you contact the 2nd or 3rd best Restaurant offer FREE AD space for a couple months.
    Then locate the BEST Restaurants and hope they take bite as they will see their competitors.
    NOTE: Their AD will be displayed in ALL 2-3 Domains related to the keyword research. So more traffic their way.


    ANY SUGGESTION on this?

    I'm in the process of trying this (I took the Dentist Ad space method which is somewhere on here and adapted it to my parents quiet town and restaurants. Still working on it at the moment.

    Although the highest ranking site for the key word is a restaurant.

    I'm going to contact 3 restaurants that don't rank in the top 10, offer them 2 months free but they have to let us have a coupon for our website (using a coupon website where this coupon for example 25% off can only be claimed 50x or something). In the first 2 months i know for a fact I can get atleast 50 people i know from the area to use the coupon at the restaurant, so i'll do this to show them that it works.

    After that i'll charge around the $70 a month, do it with 3 restaurants and then chill.

    I work for a very large company that sells ad spaces and it is a very difficult sale. Especially if you are going to charge anything decent for your ads. I'm not saying it won't work, but you will have to approach a lot of people to get a sale.

    I saw a method posted on BHW similar to yours using Craigslist. The method would place ads on CL for specific markets pointing to an incentive based opt-in page and collect emails of local potential customers. Then the method was to sell email advertising campaigns.

    Just an idea... Maybe if you find it too difficult to sell and actual ad spot, you could pitch a sale on directly contacting X number of potential customers in their area for them. You might also be able to pitch the idea of sending out some coupons to draw in customers. If you could do that, make the coupons printable so they see how many new customers you bring them. Then you would be set up for an easy resell... :)
