So im wondering how do those stream type of websites manage to stay online? The ones where you can watch movies and series online and such.
    Dont they ever get sued?
How does one go about setting up something like this?
    Where to host?
    Precautions one should take?

They are mostly run by people countries where you can get away with copyright infringement of items with a "retail value"(criminal copyright infringement). They people running the sites just aren't afraid of lawsuits, even in the USA losing a lawsuit isn't really a big thing and there are loads of easy ways to judgement proof income and assets from wage garnishment and asset seizure.

    Livetv.sx example:
    Registered using ipmirror.com(A singapore company)
Website is hosting by Informacines sistemos ir technologijos, UAB.(It's located in lithuania.)
Their cdn which is streaming the video is being serviced by a Iliad S.A(which is a french based company)

They are using the following ad networks and ad services
    AppNexus
    Doubleclick
    XTEND
    Yield ADs
    Matomy Market
    ADTECH
