The article with a meta tag "Dog training" is ranking #5 for "Dog training" and #1 for "the best dog training".

Shall I write another article with a meta tag "the best dog training" and point to "Dog training" article?

P.S. Dog training niche is just an example, not to reveal the real niche

That would be stupid.. You're already ranking #1 for that keyword. Just keep working on the page and the "dog training" keyword.

Why? You're already ranking in the best, why make a new one?

That's really great that you are ranking #1 for "Dog Training" and so, you don't need to write another article for same purpose.

However, you can write another article not for the same purpose but just to add one article on your website or blog.

Consider it as a bonus, just leave it like that and keep doing what you doing.

What exactly you mean by "working on the "dog training" keyword?

That's what I thought if I write another article for that long tail and link to "dog training" article it would help it to rank.

So you're next article would be talking about the advantages of reward based training methods.
Then the next would talk about how adversive training methods are old school and don't work, but instead trainers should use reward based methods ( then link back to the previous article )
Then you could do he next on how some dogs are food motivated as part of training rewards, where others prefer toys.

    Etc, etc, etc.

I get the idea. The only thing that is not completely clear to me is meta tags.
I thought since I don't have a separate article with a "the best dog training" meta tag yet, I thought it's a good idea to write one even if some other articles are ranking for this KW already. Could you please comment on this part?
