    Hello,

I currently made some earnings with comissionjunction and now they ask me for a w-9 in order to get paid, a tax form which asks for all kind of details including SSN and they are going to verify the information that I provide with the IRS.

The thing is, if I fill out this W9 with my real SSN (to pass the verification):
    1. What happens if I don't report those earnings to the IRS myself? Can I get in trouble?
    2. If you guys got paid by CJ, did you further report your earnings to the IRS and paid taxes for them?
    3. When do I have to pay the taxes?

I am living in the U.S.

    Thanks.

First question: Do you live in the USA?

I live in Canada, My accountant tells me any money generated from the USA, as a Canadian I do not have to pay CAD tax on my USD earnings since all my content is hosted in Canada etc... Some sort of loop hole or something for now. Thats why I leave it to my accountant, hasn't let me down yet in 5 years.

I only make xx xxx's. If I made more he'd probably do something different.

Well, yes you should report the earnings for sure. Is is worth taking the time to fill out the form. You don't wanna get audited. It also depends on how much you are making from them too if you want to draw the line somewhere.

I would suggest to talk to your accountant, just to make sure.

If your living in the United States you have to pay taxes on your earnings whether its made from an overseas source or us based source.

    1. If you don't report those earnings then thats tax evasion and they may come after you
    2. I pay all my taxes but some might be able to get away with not paying.
    3. 2013 taxes (money made after your 2012 earnings statements and before you get your earnings statements in 2014) are due on April 15, 2014

Keep banking and taxes won't be a sweat! Well they might be but you don't want your next thread to be "Help IRS following me in black sedans!" :D
