I have an idea of starting a forum up for musicians, I know there are a few out there, I want to do one so as people can show off there music and stuff, Does anyone think this is a good idea? and what ideas would you like to see if I did create one? and it's not about the money either, I just have always wanted to do one of theses, any way let me know your thoughts on this.

I agree I suppose I mainly wanted to see if it was a good idea and to see if there would be anything I could do that some people might like to see that others might not have, but thinking about it logically there is probably not a lot more you could do really.

Be creative and do some things differently than YouTube or MySpace. . . Do what? . . . I don't know. It's up to you to decide. Look at what the BIG sites offer and think of something different, something new, something they forgot. Think out of the box. :)

your wrong in your suggestions. hes asking where people can discuss their music, your putting generic sites where people post their music, but no one really checks it out without you getting them there yourself. youtube and myspace really arent the greatest sites for that.

Comon people . . . Quit hijacking this guy's thread. . . . Offer him some positive, helpful info instead of getting into your own little private wars.

Like Wiz said, if you build yours and offer something that other popular sites for musicians don't then you can leverage the traffic from those sites by doing some serious campaigning on YT,MS,ect,ect..

If you're passionate about the idea then don't let anyone tell you that you can't make it work. Just go ahead and make it work anyway. Hell, I have some stuff recorded that no one has ever heard and I'll be glad to be a contributing member once you get it up and running.

I think musicians and artists need help focusing on areas that matter without unnecessary distraction.

Myspace is already the music industry standard as far as 'interactive bios' are concerned however there are already countless other EPK (Electronic Press Kit) sites out there for showcasing purposes, sonicbids.com being the most popular and industry recognized.

I personally think artists don't need just another showcasing website.

I think you'll have better luck if your forum has sections that deal with the technical side of making music, like composing, mixing, etc... there are a lot of people out there that are hungry for this type of information.

For ideas, check out the forums at acidplanet.com
