So, if I buy an old aged domain with lets say 2k backlinks and 301 redirect it to my new site, basically my new site is going to benefit.
But I have few questions, does the anchor text on those backlinks and the niche of that old aged domain matter? for example if I want to rank for Download gta 5, but the old domain and backlinks are about battlefield?

    Thank you.

Be sure that the site in question doesn't have an overdone backlink profile and had a penalty, I've seen penalties passed along by buying domains like that and redirecting them. Just do some due diligence and you should be fine. Go after a domain with a natural but solid backlink profile and 301 it.

If the anchor text does not have anything to do with your new website then the anchor text from the 301 redirect will not benefit your website at all.

Yes It does matter. If your new site has pages related to Battlefield, then those pages will benefit from the redirect. Other than that, it won't boost your rankings for GTA V related keywords.
