question about web security - can usage of audio file be tracked?

if I download some audio files (maybe mp3, maybe another format) from a website, is it possible for whoever made the audio files to track my usage? can they tell how many minutes of it I listened to, at what minute I started, at what minute I stopped? did I ever open the file at all?

I think no, because imagine I downloaded the files to a laptop that has internet connectivity, and transferred the files to a laptop that doesn't have internet. the second laptop has no access to the external world. so they can't know? right?

This is just data on your computer. If there's no internet, I can't think of any options for them to get that info. But I am not an expert, so I'll leave that to the experts.
