Its not for web hosting but it is still a VPS so I wasnt too sure where to post it.

I got a unmanaged VPS with Ubuntu that I initially bought just for a mysql database that I use to authenticate users who login to my app.

However, I recently developed an app and I need it to be ran 24/7, Im not sure but is it possible to run programs in unmanaged vps? Considering its all SSH based and noy actually... uh... visual? If you know what I mean.

That actually depends on the app and the language used,
if you just need it to run without any visual interface, then you can run it in VPS with ssh only for sure

you can use screen for that,
it basically allows you to open any task and leave it open/running
google to found out more about it, there are plenty of tutorials out there :)

It still works fine, if you need to see the status in real time, you can make a ping to ping it. Because an unmanaged VPS is usually a lot cheaper.

If you are not good at management You can always contact web hosting provider which provides you that VPS and ask for help with setting up your app.
