I have a website that has several snapshots on Wayback Machine and I would like to remove them. After a bit of research I found following:

    Code:
[I]To exclude the Internet Archive?s crawler (and remove documents from the Wayback Machine) while allowing all other robots to crawl your site,
    your robots.txt file should say:
    [/I]
    [I]User-agent: ia_archiver
    Disallow: /[/I]

Did anyone try this? Will this remove the snapshots from the Wayback Machine and prevent adding new ones?

it will not remove the old one's , but will only stop the new one's from being created.

Have you tried contacting them and requesting the content to be removed. Seems like to me they would be legally
obligated to remove content that they share and do not own or are the author to it.

I don't think you can get them removed. Try sending them an email

Good news. I've contacted them, asked them nicely to remove all archives, and voila:

Thanks! Yea I have had good success with them as well they are quick to remove sites and by blocking their bots they naturally remove legacy results.

I am happy to see requesting them to take it down worked for you. I expected it to work but not that fast!

The is a technique I use to get off rating sites for my customers.

If you ever come across this and there is a hesitance, all you need to do is let them know that there are trademarked icons on your page. They are actually really good at removing screenshots when asked. Kudos Bro!
