I am a total newbie at this. I decide to do some scraping and have heard to use free public google passed proxies for it and to avoid using private proxies. I heard to only use private proxies for commenting. The problem is, I can't seem to find one... if there is. It's giving a lot of error 404 on scrapebox.

How do you guys go about doing this? How fast do private proxies get banned in scrapebox?

You have to understand the rate of which the private proxies are sold and if they're re-used or not. They're not banned from Scrapebox, they're banned from the search engines. Depends on the quality.

Public Proxy: I use these proxies to harvest/scrape URLs.
Private Proxies: For posting comments, account creation etc..

try these tools GPTool by gatherproxy and Proxy Multiply by jrimsoftware

Private proxies are good for scraping if you are doing it right ( here is a tutorial that can teach you if you dont know how: http://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/me...sults-from-google-with-only-5-proxies.833560/ ) And of course private are the only thing you should use for posting ( if you want private proxies, you should check out Proxy-Hub, they are hands down the best private proxy provider IMO)

Though often people mostly use public proxies for scraping since after you get a tool like this: http://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/get-fresh-proxies-anytime-you-need-them-24-7.844185/ lots of people will be using those proxies since it is so easy and inexpensive to scrape with. So they die relatively fast, within a few hours sometimes even seconds.

If you also want something to post with a bit cheaper then private proxies then you can always use a vpn like HMA or Cyber Ghost.

Public proxies, security cannot be guaranteed; although public proxy servers do a great job of hiding your IP address, these servers may log your online activity for their own use and information.

Private proxies are best for POSTING, it is widely used on SEO tools such as GSA, Scrapebox etc. And it will manage all types of accounts like Social media accounts, such as facebook, twitter, youtube, pinterest, instagram etc.
