Question about my Blog

Basically, My blog has been indexed my Google, but it does not show up for the search term that I want. So I need to do some SEO. (I think).
The thing is, I'm not too sure on how to do that.
Building Backlinks - Is this just posting a link of your website on random blogs/etc?

And is there anything else that I can do?

Yes thats it

Comment spamming is one method. Submit your sites to social bookmarking is another. Making linkwheels is another one. There is plenty of methods.

I'd suggest to use the search button you'll find a lot of infos.

Besides using the search button on the forum, I'd suggest to take a look around for some ebooks about SEO. Google helps.
Also, what is your blog about? Keep focused on it.

Another method you can try is to get in touch with other blogs' owners that have a site about the same subject of yours, and if you manage to become somehow close to them, you can ask 'em to write an article for your blog: that way they'll get a backlink to their blog (for the collaboration, as a signature at the end of the entry), and they will probably talk about it on their blog too, linking to the source (your site).
Since it's already targetted traffic, the visitors will be likely to come back if they find useful content .

However you can find tons of other ways simply doing some researches.

You gotto start learning more about SEO. Put your keyword in titles and in the first line of your content. Do some comment spamming with that keyword as your anchor text. If you want to rank for widget, then use widget guy or something similar as your name while posting comments. Do some social bookmarking ,article submission and so on and so forth. Or hire some body who can do some onsite and offsite seo for you.

But at the end if you are in highly competitive niche then you will have tough time ranking good for that keyword.

There's a lot to learn about SEO. Posting your link on random websites isn't going to do it. Here's a start though: Go download the Google Toolbar and it will tell you the Page Rank of a website. PR10 is the best, all the way down to 0 being the bottom. You want to get your link on high Page Rank sites.

Build links slowly (to avoid being penalized by Google or even Sandboxed), maybe 4-6 per day. PR10 backlinks are very very hard to come by, but a good new one people have recently discovered is creating a Google Profile with your link in it.
