    Hello.

There's a website that is hosted on HostWinds' server, which I recently sent them DMCA, but they seem to be ignoring me!
I want to ask, if anyone knows, what is their main provider? I'd like to talk directly to them, as they are hosting the stuff in USA, and the content I want removed is 100% against the laws of USA.

    Thanks in advance!

Is this your content? Or is it just "illegal content"?

It's not my content, but content that is being used to break my stuff. Not sure if I was clear, but yea.. basically someone else using that stuff hosted on that website which is illegal against me.

If you don't own the copyright or haven't been authorised to make the request by the copyright owner, I'm fairly sure it's an invalid request anyway.

You'd be best off seeing a lawyer for some real advice.

    "which is illegal against me."

Are you sure about that? If you could be more specific...

Probably they ignored your DMCA because, as you admitted, they are not hosting your copyrighted content - which is what a DMCA is for (the C even stands for copyright).

You're best bet is to probably contact them via BHW like recommended above.

    ...

On a side note, if you're serious about anonymity, I would not recommend HideMyAss at all. Just read up about them. ^^^^^^^^^^

The only thing I can think of that would fit this description is a crack of software that you've written, and philosophically I'm not so sure I support the idea of holding the website host responsible for the presence of cracks by one of his accounts.

Perhaps you might have coded it better?

hey I can't send PMs yet and I didn't want to create new thread. Has anyone been having problems with hostwinds hosting for the last 3-4 days? I have noticed that few times over the last 3-4 days my websites where down for 15 minutes up to circa 1 hour.

Generally speaking your supposed to keep posts "On topic" and not hijack another users thread, anyhow

    Whats your domain?
    What server are you on?

shoot me a skype msg and lets get to the bottom of this. We have had no downtime at all since we updated our VPS nodes about 3 weeks ago

and with the MASSIVE expansion set to happen in about 1.5 weeks, our VPS, Windows, and Cloud nodes will all be running at less than 25% total capacity, which means everyone will have lightening fast speeds.

Now to bring this thread back on topic

@OP I have yet to hear anything from you?

Alright, well as Peter said, this thread is supposed to be about someone trying to get a website hosting service to take some kind of action against one of their customers because the OP claims they are violating his rights in some way. It appears the site makes cracked software available, and the OP is a software author who may believe he is losing money due to someone making the use of this software available for free and costing him money.

It's all supposition, and actually irrelevent (the "what's" and the "why's"). What's relevant is whether or not a Hosting company should take any action against their customers at all. Long before we address the almost completely irrelevant issue of the OP and his concern, I think first we should be discussing whether or not a webhosting company should be involved with their customers websites, even if they are violating criminal law. Whose law? What country? Sharia law? There's lots of different notions of the word "law" in the world, and website hosting companies are an international service, so they have to have policies that account for everyone, not matter what country, what law, etc...

Against all that interesting and weighty issues, you show up, new, ignorant and self-centered and decide to ignore all of that, and turn the conversation to you, you, you (it's all about you) so that we can all stop our conversation and pay attention to your problem, and only because you didn't want to start your own thread. Pathetic. Does your Mommy still help you go wee-wee, too?

It's called "thread hijacking" and it's an internationally known and almost universally prohibited act, although it's not all that serious, it's rude, disruptive and it says something about the person that did it.

Beyond that, you've put Peter in a situation. If he refers you to his BST thread (or support thread, or whatever he may have, idk), or if he directs you to start your own thread, then it appears that he is dodging a customer service complaint. Bad form. In business you have to respond immediately, or at least as soon as you can as the customer is always the most important thing. However, when he does this, now he's participating in the same thread hijacking that you started. Peter knows better, but has to do it anyways in the name of "Customer Service". We all know this is the case, and hold him blameless, however we are all acutely aware of your breach of etiquette, and what that says about who and what you are.
