So...I have a sports WordPress website with quite good-quality content. It's been up for like 45 days, but I switched domains and bought another one like 20 days ago. After doing some on-page SEO optimization, I decided to start building backlinks and submit my website on the Google.

So I submitted my website to Google, activated Google Webmaster Tools for my website and soon, my site was indexed by the search engine. Later, I bought 10 backlinks from high-PR domains, 800 social bookmarks, created some manual backlinks etc. However, I am not even on the first 500 pages of Google's search for my main keyword! Now I am wondering how is it possible? Does it take a lot until those backlinks affect my website or? I was using some of my keywords (and also the main one) as an anchor text for many backlinks, but...nothing.

So, could anyone tell me what's wrong (if anything is), and what should I do next?
    Thanks!

From my experience you need to create high authority backlinks pointed to your word press site. So what you should do is create unique content on free article websites that give do follow link juice. Then focus on backlinking those articles to increase your page rank. You may also want to increase your google plus votes as this helps index you quicker.

You might also want to create more posts on your wordpress blog around your keywords.

It does take some time for your backlinks to take effect, ussually when the spiders crawl those posts.

It depends on the competition you are targeting. If your target keyword is on a high competition, you need to spend more time and effort to see good results.

You need to be careful when it comes to backlinking. Do not create large amounts of backlinks in a short period of time as your site is new. You need to drip-feed the backlinks just to be safe. You should always remember that quality is more important than quantity.

One more thing, you should diversify your keywords by adding LSI keywords, generic keywords and naked URL's. When you diversify your keywords and backlinks, together with high quality backlinks created, you have nothing to worry about any Algo may occur in the future.

    Cheers!

Yeah I read that creating many backlinks in a short period of time is really a bad idea, so I stopped and I'll wait a bit.

Competition is low, so I don't think it will be a problem. When it comes to the time and effort, I will definitely put it in, just need some basic guidelines from more experienced SEO-ers, so I don't mess up my website.

And I'll definitely need to do some more research on LSI keywords and the other things you mentioned in the last paragraph. I am not really familiar with those terms, so I'll have to learn more about them and then start using them.

All in all, thank you very much for the answer! I appreciate it!

start +1 your site articles always ping your new post links and main site one's in a day. Make few web 2.0 add unique content to them and add two backlinks to your site from them.

I say at least 3 months of constant work and backlinking to start seeing some positive results and get your site to at least page 4 or 5 then you can order some SAPE links to give it that final push to page 1

Techxan has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space.

    Almost :D

This was the sports site you were asking about a while back ? you have mirrored the site and now have two sites up with the exact same content...I would change the feeder site to avoid any duplicate content penalty.

    Yeah, that's it.
Well, my old domain is just redirecting to my new domain with the website content. Is that ok?
    Thanks for the advices anyway!

Okay if its only redirecting it should be fine. Just I have picked up some dumb duplicate content penalties in the past........nothing worse than getting a slap for plagiarising your own stuff !

New Domain name is a big improvement.

Just to add: I never panic when I am building a site and I am happy to give it a few months before I start scratching my head....so you might be okay.

The terms you are trying to rank for will be pretty hard also.

However.... I just had a look at the wayback machine and that domain was in use for a Soccer site in 2012...checking Ahrefs it had about 12,000 backlinks at one stage and some dubious anchor text....So you might have bought a domain with a problem.

Yeah, it is only redirecting. And thanks for warning me, I will make sure it doesn't happen to me!

Is there any way to remove backlinks which were already built?

I feel you are expecting too early for your new domain. Build authority/good quality back links. Work on content. Wait for few weeks. During this waiting time please keep building quality back links. Avoid any black hat tricks.

Six months depending on how competitive the market is. Few years ago Google stopped ranking well new websites for competitive keywords in its results as a repose to eliminate/minimize short term websites from good position that are there for only few months and then they are gone.

Well yeah, it's probably gonna take some time. Luckily my keyword is not really a high competitive one.
