Question about expired domain nameses

hi everyone, last day I bought an expired domain name from godaddy auction , the domain age was 6 years and a couple of months, but once the site was on my account its age was changed to yesterday's date, I thought that it will keep its age
so my question is, how can I buy a site without losing its age?
