:confused:I hate to ask a dumb question, but does caffienated content have a option to add authors as users on a WP Blog? Never noticed, the blog has been running for about 3 months, and I never recieved a notice of new users, but my blog suddenly has over a hundred registered users. All are registered as authors, all have email addresses and all have posted at least once:eek:. What has me curious is the emails, if they are valid, does this constitute that it is ok to email them?

Nope, CC is not creating users under WP.

Ok, not caffienated content, any of the other auto blog software add users with emails? Realy interested to know where all these users came from, especially since they are posting (even if it is relevant content, its full of their links) Im stumped, I have no auto post plugins installed, I noticed this after installing Siple Press Forum Plugin when it converted database users, but they don post in the forum, just on the blog, anyone have any ideas? Where did these people come from and are they real? And why do they post on mine?

You failed to configure your WordPress settings CORRECTLY. You must have configured Settings > General to allow ANYONE to register.

When you do this, there will be remote connections to your blog within weeks of it being indexed and all kinds of "authors" registering.

Many of these new "authors" are going to try database injection to infiltrate your hosting.

Check the .jpg on how you should configure.

I have the same thing also. There are registered authors on my blog with the same name as the author of certain articles that were autoposted. I just assumed this was CC. I really hope this isn't an infiltration attempt.

Ok this is weird, I just checked my plugins list. When I had someone set up this autoblog, I know CC was one of the installed plugins. Now it doesn't show up in the plugins list.

empathml: What other plugins are you using? It looks like I have the same problem as well.

I'm using these and some other ones:

    Unique Article Wizard
WP Mascurator <----- I have no idea wth this is

Ok, not Caffeinated content, but "SOMETHING!!" I delted all the users over 200 of them, turned off "Anyone Can Register" aand they were all gone till this morning. I have another 30 new users, all registered as AUTHORS and each posting their spam articles. THese are my plugins:

    All in One SEO Pack
    commentluv
    DISQUS Comment System
    G-Lock Double Opt-in Manager
    Google Analyticator
    Google XML Sitemaps
    Kontera ContentLink
    One Click Plugin Updater
    Ozh' Admin Drop Down Menu
    Simple:press Forum
    Socialize It Pro
    UBD Block Ad Plugin
    Wordpress Backup (by BTE)
    WordPress Related Posts
    WP-Cumulus
    WP Blog Vitals

I have a few others installed, but none of them are activated. At first this was a curiosity, but now its starting to irritate me. Anyone else finding this issue? It's a 2.71 blog if that means anything, but what I dont understand, is even though I had it set to allow new users, the default user level was just subscriber, how do all these people keep getting Author Level?

as long as you are not locked out of your site yet, then the....folks aren't using there needles right....

i lost a couple sites to simple injections...luckily got em back and blocked em...

check your permissions first, and then prolly just disable each plugin one by one and check again...lol.

    i got took by a couple keyloggers...nice ones too...which i now own =]...

is it a money making blog? if not i personally would just trash it...spend my time on building it again..easy enough
