I keep reading but there is too much confusion and contradictory opinions about Penguin. Is there anyone of you that has been able to find and to recommend a good article (or maybe even a post on this forum) about the safest way to build backlinks in the post Penguin Era?

    Thank you. Much appreciated

Are there any SEO Fiverr gigs that are still valid after Penguin??

Don't post the gigs URL's, since it can involve the risk of spamming or selfpromoting. I would only like to know about categories of gigs that are still good.

Some SEO gigs say they are still valid, but I believe it's too early to see how effective they really are now.

Think diversity and drip feed links. Slower and consistent link building with a wide variety of link types and anchor text is the safest way to go, IMO.

Here's the secret to beating Penguin and future algorithm updates.

    Think like a search engine.

What does that mean exactly? It means thinking about all the variables that the search engines can analyze, and how they would rank and sort their search results.

So, one of the easiest things to look at is a websites backlink profile. Is it natural to have 5,000 backlinks, all with the same anchor text, pointed to the same URL? No.

Or, would it be more natural to backlink nearly all of the pages on your domain, with a large variety of anchor texts. Mostly anchor texts that are unoptimized like click here, learn more, or whatever a blogger would use. Yes, it would be more natural.

Finally, look at your onsite optimization. Who's more likely to be trying to "game" Google, someone who has a keyword density of 20%, perfectly optimized H1/H2 tags, and perfect anchor-text internal linking or the person that has a lower KWD (and likely doesn't even know what KWD is) and maybe included the keyword in the title once. I think you know the answer.

The point is, don't be the statistical anomaly when you are working on your SEO campaign. Find a competitor who hasn't done any visible linkbuilding or onpage optimization and try and copy his backlink structure, including the diversity in anchor text, the quality of links, and then take yours to the next level a bit by adding better quality links and a slightly higher percentage of optimized anchor text links.

    ^ Good info there.

Based on my experience with fiverr lately, I would suggest alternative methods. The gigs that I've purchased were delivered as described, however the description was vague, they didn't have actual relevance to my site.

I've been analyzing the leaders for my keyword, checking their KW density, user interface, and backlink strategy. You can get some insight as to why they are where they are. The tools I use for this are ahrefs dot com, and the SEOQuake plugin for firefox. SEOQuake has really changed the way I see the web, immediately after searching your KW you can see their strategy.

I recently had a great experience with a local service here, post penguin. PM me if you want to know which one it is (no affiliation).
