Is your article linking to your main site or are you just trying to get traffic to the article?

It won't hurt, may just take a little longer to be indexed.

You will be fine. I personally would help Google a little bit finding this link by linking article a little bit.

If it's already indexed, you should be fine. Make sure to update the crawl settings or ping the articles once you've posted them for Google knows to crawl them.
