So I've picked up a couple of dropped domains which have some good, clean link profiles and I want to 301 them to my money site. However, while the link equity looks solid, the anchor text of the backlinks is not related to my money pages.

For example, my money page is about traveling around a certain city, but the anchor text from the 301 is a person's name like Susan Smith. So if I 301, I'll have all these 'Susan Smith' anchor text links pointing at my money site even though my site has nothing to do with Susan Smith.

Knowing that the link equity is strong, should I worry about the unrelated anchor text pointing to my money site? Or is the link equity alone worth it even though the anchor text is unrelated?

Would love some opinions from people who have gone down this route in the past.

I get asked about 301ing domains very regularly and generally it is not a good idea.

If you have a bunch of domains I would create a PBN, if you have a great niche specific domain you could 301 it but I would only do this if the domain has traffic. If the domain you are looking at has good stats but little to no traffic you may as well stick a website on it and build a link or two into the content.

Mass 301ing for SERPs domination is a thing of the past.
