You can find some example sites built with MT here
It's an amazing plattform, solid as rock and it has a professional look; it has similar features compared with WP but in the new version it has builtin social functions like forums, profiles, groups and signups, it's a cool plattform.

The only disadvantage that I find is that WP community is bigger so you can find tons themes, plugins and hacks that you won't find with MT but definitely is worth a try. You have to have a server that supports Python and SQLite.

To my way of thinking, Movabletype is the Mac in the blogging world while the Wordpress blog platform is the Windows OS as well. To sum up, it depends upon what your personal requirements are for your projects.

I thought that WP was a little easier to use, at least for me.

And WP is more server friendly in terms of Python and so on.....

I took a long look at Movable Type and it is impressive but I went with WPMu instead, it's a workhorse with tons of support.

Im with blogger/blogspot publishing with my own domain. I'm a penny-pinching critter, I don't want to ante up 5 bucks/month for hosting. Though I know Wordpress is the best.
