I know this stuff gets posted around here allot but I've actually started to notice it lately. Whenever I search for something on Google, the results are becoming worse and worse. For example, I am trying to find specific products on a specific website. So my query is: website name product name

The results come back with a whole heap of comparison shopping website and a whole bunch of other bullshit. I've even noted it on YouTube. I was looking for a specific product video, typed in the name and the 4th results was some other product that was completely different.

has anyone else noticed a severe drop in their quality?

There is OR operator for things like that
so you can use site1 OR site2

Yeah I noticed it too before a couple of days, OP. For ex, If I tried to search something like pinterest method blackhatworld, I expect all the results to be from blackhatworld but it just showed some random stuff and only a single result from BHW.

@west555 & prab1996, It's not about how to use the search operators cos 99.9% of the peoples who search on Google doesn't have a clue. Its about the relevancy that Google had messed up.

Yeah, I'm not looking for a tutorial on search.

Thanks for actually answering the question. Is this a temporary thing after a Google update or are poor results here to stay? It seems like the already uneven playing field between authority and relevance has been pushed even further towards authority.

It's pretty usual the rankings will shuffle after an update, but they'll eventually settle down but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I don't think it's gonna change unless Google fixes it. As hard as they're trying to fight against the spam, the most important factor to determine the relevancy is still the good ol'backlinks and now they're pushing it to make it work using a Site's authority and that's what causes these scattered results. Look at the search results for 1tb hard drive ebay and 1tb hard drive amazon. The results for ebay shows the pages from Amazon but not the same for the Amazon results.
