    Hey guys,

I'm going to head on to create my first private blog network.

However, I've never came across the section on linking them up.
Should you do a one way backlink on say the navigation bar/footer/etc/homepage

or standard no links page, but with the links in the posts? which will be better?

    Any advices on this?

Doing Links in your post(s) is the best way to link in my opinion but make sure your Private Network is set up properly. You don't want any foot steps left behind as this would defeat the entire purpose of building a Private Network in the first place.

Do not link your sites together. Massive footprint.

Yes do not link your private blog network sites together. You are just asking for a deindexing doing it that way.

As far as links out to your money sites, contextual links in posts is the way to go.

    The usage of the word 'network' in blog network is misleading. By definition, a network infers that there will be some interrelation between the blogs. This is actually the last thing you want to do. As posted above, you want to make each of the sites as independent as possible including the following (if possible);

    1. Different hosting companies for each
    2. Different TLD's
    3. Different countries for some of them
    4. Different CMS (don't use wordpress on all of them)
    5. Different Theme for each site
    6. No common terms/privacy or other similar pages - make then all different if you can
    7. No common outbound links
    8. Build different sets of inbound links (do not link to more than one of your blogs from one single page)

There may be more, but this is what I came up with quickly.

The best place to link from is a homepage that isn't a "latest post" feed. Contextual, and do-follow of course.

Also, PR sculpting works on a site level, but I've seen many pages get MORE PR because they have many OBLs. Google doesn't want to like "selfish" sites

I think that Google can detect the use of blog networks when a site receives lots of homepage pr links that fall of the page quickly. It's unnatural. That's why we don't force home page loops on every Fightback Network, only some of them.

This one's a bitch to do LOL. Unless you have a massive network, you really can't avoid posting the same link on many of your blogs, if you want the backlinks to have an impact.
