I have a niche with low competition but I know that there should actually be text on the page. I can do a little text but 1,000 words will be tough. This is a niche where people just want to see the images of the product (most likely in a table) so they can click the image to make it bigger and see if they want it. Wouldn't a page with majority of images not be liked by Google? Thank you.
Alt text, captions, short descriptions??? You obviously won't get a 1000 word article that way but plenty of image based sites get indexed.
You could add a comments section and add content in the form of comments. I do this on my PPD websites, and they seem to rank pretty well. moreover this also gives engages the real visitor and they comment too.
If your competition have quality content, then find the way to add content, too. Comments is good idea.
What you can do is have all the images with captions. Then under all the images, write a paragraph. Even id no one reads it it will help with google.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I will try to mimic my competitor with all the tips provided by you all.
Short paragraphs of text and descriptive alt tags are enough for Google to rank your site. And, just in case you didn't know, empty sites do rank in Google. Content is overrated.
Yes, you get real visitors. Concentrate on alt tags and also your page title, tags. Images should be quality with informative, then only visitor stay on your page and get traffic your site.
Don't spam your keyword in the alt tags like the guys are saying here. If you are doing whitehat seo (we are in that forum) the alt tags should be a description of what the image is. If the picture is of a field of grass, the alt tag should be "field of green grass" etc. Not just the keyword you want to rank for.
