Hey guys, I have some dilemma.

I have one website created 2 years ago on very specific niche (example - fishing rod). The site is ranking on the 1st page on multiple keywords and it consistently bringing some cash to me each month.

The problem is, the one that is ranking is the HOMEPAGE of the website. I made some mistake in the past where I put my money article on homepage and rank it. Now, I want to expand and build authority website (instead of focusing on fishing rod alone, I want to cover the whole fishing sports).

    Should I

    1) recreate from the existing website like replacing the homepage with multiple snippet and create new sub-pages for current ranked keyword, OR
    2) create a whole new website, and on the new website I create sub-pages on "best fishing rod" and 301 my previous website to it?

Which one is the best option? Anyone has experience on it and would share some thought? Any feedback is appreciated.

The problem I have with recreating the existing website is that if I am to create new sub-page for "the best fishing rod" and my homepage is now a bundle of snippet post (like the usual authority website), I think I will lose the ranking a lot and I need to build new backlinks to the sub-pages. Am I wrong?
