Has anyone made a half decent module to test HTTPS proxies?

Urllib2, requests, mechanize, httplib or sockets are all not built to handle HTTPS proxy timeouts.

So I used the multiprocessing library to create a process, and then check if it's alive after 5 seconds. If so, then I kill the process, as the timeout should. I haven't been able to perfect it yet.

Has anyone already coded something stable similar to this? HTTPS proxies can't be that rare of an occasion in Python. Having a hell of a time finding anything on Google.

Because the rest of my system is in Python. There are many possibilities for non-SSL proxies, but SSL makes things difficult.
