While browsing the current topics here, I was reminded of seeing someone's URL on the back window of their car...

    Has anyone tried this?

Do you think it would even remotely work?

I've seen this a few times before, and I think I've only once typed in a URL that I saw on the back window of someone's car... even when I'm interested, I probably won't remember it by the time I get home.

I'm sure it doesn't hurt... not too much effort and if you're stuck in enough traffic jams people will be reading it as it's all they can look at! Why stick with just a url, make a full blown advert, just like on a bus :) although you might lose some street cred with an ugly lucking ad on your rear window

Yes it works, but I use 2 adverts on magnets I stick to the car. I get people holding up traffic at the lights to write it down too. I sell a pretty sought after product locally this way ;)

It helps to drive an interesting ride as well...

I think it really depends on the car. If your driving a 92 accord I dont think you would get nearly as much traffic as you would by putting on a Ferrari F50.

Waste of time tbh. Sure you might get 1 visit from a weeks worth of driving. Or you could spend that money adwords and get 1000 targeted visits.

I know a couple of times I have seen url's on the back of cars and I remember it and look it up. So of course it works.

I've typed in a few that really interested me. My parents drive 130mi to our other house many weekends on the highways so I figure it would be decent exposure... Though (jasonac2) has a point... For the few bucks it cost to make a bumper sticker / magner you could have bought several thousand targeted visitors. Probably tield higher value. IMHO. Though admittedly I would like to try and run my own tests just to see for sure.

i guess it depends what you are trying to sell/promote also? selling penis enlargement pills may not work well, but selling web design to local tradesmen might. in general i do think it works, i pulled up behind a car yesterday advertising driveway cleaning on the window, i memorised the url and asked the guy for a quote via his website.best route with window stickers is to pay local taxi drivers to put them on their cars, some drive 500 miles a week + in the local area so if your selling to local people its a good method. you can pay me to advertise if you like coz im a taxi driver :D :p

There was another thread that I read here in the forum about writing your url on dollar bills, I forgot who's thread it was, but it sounded like a kick idea. I thought it was definitely worth noting.

Whenever I see urls advertised on vehicles, some are catchy, but I do forget the address by the time I get home thinking that I'll remember.

Lol @ madinaz ( mad in az? Living in phoenix myself!)

Also, lots of great comments here. I really was just thinking of putting a URL on my own car. It's not a unique or very fancy car by any means, and I don't really drive a lot, so may not be the best idea, but... maybe you'll get some people who aren't too savvy... and direct them to zip submits, etc... couple extra bucks never hurt!

ironically enough, i had a 92 accord with my website on it. never got shit. I wouldn't do it again, at least not until I'm driving a lambo with a los angeles 10 riding shotgun (or on my dick lawlz).

I just had an idea... Im quite drunk so Im not sure how good it is.

Stick a sticker on your bumper saying:"I run this car on water -url-" redirect the url to that CB offer about converting your car to run on water. I bet some idiots would be like... WOOOOW it works! Must convert my car as well!

I like mighty BH's idea. Though you might get random people asking you about it at the gas station... drop some random junk under your hood and you're gold!

Fake it till you make it?
