Putting an url as your website on a comment post

    Does this count as a valid backlink to your site ?
    It's where your username is a clickable link to your site on a comment post on a site/blog

    it depends which blog you are posting to. Many blogs these days (wordpress especially) try to stop spammers by making their links 'nofollow' which means that the site is telling Google not to follow links back to your site. You can find lists 'do follow' blogs on the download section here or if you are on a blog and need to know you can view the source code and have a look!

    Also FYI it's not always bad to have nofollow links in the mix as it looks a bit suspect if you have ONLY 'do follow' blog links back to your site. Also if you're posting to relevant blogs other visitors to that blog will see your link too

    What about youtube videos ? Does that build backlinks ?
