Hello.

I am glad you could join me. I could write a full essay on how the last 3-4 years of my life have been utter hell, but this is my redemption arc. We WILL succeed. I've had massive success before only to throw it away, and now we have to grind it back from the fking bottom.

Not sure how often I'll update this, but I currently have two sites. The first site I have pretty much abandoned since it's in a niche that doesn't have a ton of money in it but it's a passion of mine. I enjoy writing for it, but even the search volume is low. I write around 3-4 articles per month.

My 2nd blog is an affiliate site. I started it two months ago, it has 33 articles on it. I have spent, no joke, every ounce of my energy on this site. I have no idea anything about the niche, and yet here we are. I know a LOT more now than I do before, and I'm writing most of the content. I've hired a few writers here and there for specific content but I like writing anyway so it's not that big of a deal. My aim is to get around 50+ articles with an 80/20 split of affiliate/info content and then spam the shit out of it with backlinks.

I'm still on the fence of what types of backlinks I'm ok with. I paid for 2 backlinks already that are kind of shady, but I don't think it's the end of the world. I've been quoted upwards of 400+ per article on my outreach, and I cannot afford it. I have a tiny budget, but we will make it work :).

Website 1, Month 9:

I'm still convinced my website is in the sandbox, it only has a DA of 5. I have around 80 articles and it's a YMYL niche, so I'm not surprised or anything. I won't look to monetize it, I hope it will help the people who need it, though.

Website 2 Month 2:

Can you spot where I got my first backlink? Hah!

The Path Forward

My goal this month (and almost every month) is 15 articles. It's crazy, it takes up almost every ounce of my energy and time outside of school/work, but what can I do. I HAVE to get my freedom back, even if it kills me in the short term. I went from living in my fantasy to living in hell quite quickly. I forgot to enjoy it. I won't do that again. Eventually, I will tell my whole story, but it's late.

I'm motivated. Let's get it, baby. See you next month (or if you wanna chat :))

It's a fine line, and some days I want to pass out, but I still have extra time every day to jack off. It's crazy, I can still get this much done while having extra time. Makes you think?

Good luck! I've been buckling down on one site since December and it's just now starting to trend upwards.

Hey man, following your journey since we're doing the same thing, what is your experience with Google sandbox? :)

Well, people say it doesn't exist. If you get backlinks, I'm sure the process is sped up quite a bit. You can see from my 2nd site that even with constantly pushing out content, it's still getting barely any impressions. We have to be patient and hope that we get out of it eventually.

Well, what the FUCK. I forgot February only has 28 days. Anyway, I'll get to it.

My goal this month was to do 15/articles a month which I failed at. I did manage to get 9 articles in between both sites but for good reason. I landed a freelance SEO gig that has been a blessing, it's been paying me pretty well. Next week I finish school so now I can focus all my effort on working and both of my websites.

Last month I got a few backlinks added to my affiliate site. Unfortunately, I think I might have overpaid. I only have 1.5 DA after spending around 600 bucks. I did manual outreach myself, but unsure what to think really. I have hired one writer, but he dropped the ball big time the last time and I won't be working with him again.

What I realized is people don't want to work. Almost no one is going to go the efforts I go to making sure my content is great. I watch Youtube videos before to understand what products I'm reviewing because I need to sound legitimate. I doubt anyone I hire on Upwork is going to give that much of a shit unless I pay them absurd amounts.

Haven't been working much on my first site, it's on the backburner while the articles are ranking organically without much link building been dong. Here's the last 28 days over previous period.

Website 1, Month 10:

And here's site B that's affiliate and getting some backlinks. Hope I can save enough money to do another backlink campaign, I want to get like 100~ links to it but I need to save some cash right now so that I can pay bills.

Website 2, Month 3:

bb.JPG

Being done with school frees up like 30-40 hours a week, which will all be going to my sites. I'm at 40 articles now on this site, hopefully, I can crank it up to 100 before month 8. :).

Looks solid growth in just 1 month period. 100 before month 8 seems easy goal with this pace :)

I am following this thread. I love to see someone working with passion but not enough experience about how to do it for sure.

Yoo wattup. I am sure am fucking tired. It's 7AM here and I wake up this early every day. Good news and bad. I have a decent job now doing outreach for a few clients and onpage. Bad news is that i hardly have time to work on my sites.

I've figured out this week how to make it so I have the weekend off so I'll push myself to keep working.. I got really burned out to be honest. My affiliate site I don't give a shit about.. It's not my niche, I was super hyped to keep working on it but I'm tired of writing amazon reviews. I am working hard so I can at least do something I enjoy and outsource the writing later. I still managed to add 5 articles this month regardless.

Website 1, Month 11:

Going to be a year this month.. wow. I know that my results are not great, but from not knowing anything in SEO to getting paid to it, this site was what got me started. I still see a slow growth curve, so I'm hoping that's enough to catapult me in the next few months. Haven't done any linkbuilding out of a few guest posts since last August. I've barely worked on it either.. I do see a growth in impressions but unsure what's going on. I did update 2-3 articles last month as well, but don't see any progress tbh.

site1.JPG

Also here's some analytics:

site1.JPGCapture.JPG

This is organic searches only. I never really got that hockey stick growth.. let's see what happens. This is site isn't ever going to make me money but I hope the advice on there is helping people regardless :)

Website 2, Month 4:
hey.JPG

Been picking up some good links here and there. Hope to see some real growth soon. My main worry is I still have 10~ pages that aren't indexed which is annoying.. Google keeps crawling the same pages over and over so I have no idea what to do. I'm gonna stay patient but if it doesn't fix itself by the end of the month I'll hire someone to take a look at it.

newbi.JPG

Feels like it got worse? But it's only month 4 so I hope this month I see SOME traffic at least from Google. I have 30+ low comp info keywords I can work on, I think I'll try to do fewer affiliate articles. My goal is to make enough from my job that I can outsource everything completely. I would still do keyword research/outlining articles but I can't be fked to write any longer.

I hope that this works, fingers crossed. I really worked hard on this one.

It's been ONE YEAR since I've been in SEO. If anyone is reading this and thinking this shit is hard, I agree with you. The number 1 thing I would say is find reputable people to listen to. The real tips and tricks are found on podcasts, forums and youtube, most of the SEO garbage on the internet is for the noobs who don't know how to spell SEO.

I went from not knowing how to use Wordpress to now working from home and building my career as a link builder. Just fucking go for it. 1 year of hard work and dedication is all it takes.

Anyway:

Website 1, Month 12:
So I've since not done ANY work on my main site. Other than doing some optimization with surfer for 1-2 articles, I've let it sit.. Sad my passion project is now on the back burner, but I won't ever sell the site so I hope that when I get more time I can put more effort. Right now, it doesn't seem worth it to me to get backlinks on a site that I don't believe people should need to pay for. I want the info to be as free as possible and I can make $ on my affiliate site and whore it out. I noticed today that it's ranking for the main keyword (around 25k monthly searches) and it's in 50th position.. I hope it gets to #1 soon :)

Here is last 3 months compared to the prior 3 month period, so zooming out it looks like I'm doing great. 100% traffic increase! Not bad. I know the numbers are sucky, but it's a YMYL niche and it's been SO slow. I see it picking up now.. Hockey stick any time now I think.

This vs last month:

A lot more impressions, lost some average position but that's because my pages are finally picking up keywords after.. a year. Lol, been long enough. But they do say the #1 pages are like 2-3 years old, so here's to hoping they rank.

1619864109826.png

Here's organic traffic only:

1619864229100.png

Website 2, Month 5:
1619864302895.png

Ahrefs hasn't picked up 3-4 links, but slow and steady so far. I've been picking up great links here and there while linkbuilding for a client in a similar niche.

I did actually write 11-12 articles myself this month while working. Since I live in the west, I wake up before everyone reads emails so I normally have the morning time to myself and then start sending out emails around 3-5pm my time. I wanted to hire a writer but if I have the time, I'll not waste the money. I think I landed a big client which might take a lot of my time, but let's see, hopefully I have time to keep going.

Here's the GSC:

Here's organic users lifetime:
1619864738715.png

So I'm hoping for this one I can continue to add more articles. I have a better understanding of link building and content, but now I need more $$$ to afford scaling. I would be buying so many links but simply can't afford it right now. Anyway, see you next month, and if you have any questions let me know!

Any update?
Honestly, I quit doing this because I thought no one was reading :p. But I'll do a quick update.

Website 1, Month 14:

1627192554085.png

Honestly, bit disappointed in this one. As a blog that's aimed at helping people, I am still feeling like I'm in the sandbox. I'm on page 2-3 for the main keyword that gets around 30k traffic but I don't have enough DR to get anywhere. I did build 2 white-hat guest posts but I don't see any return for this site so I'll continue working on it sparingly while I focus my effort on my 2nd site.. I haven't been updating anything either but I did redo the homepage layout so that it's silo-esque so maybe that will help. Hope that I can eventually rank on this site as I would love if more people got to see my content.

Website 2, Month 8:

1627193001585.png
1627193041540.png
Next month will be month 8. It's been a wild ride for this site and I'm still patiently waiting to rank.. The first few pages that I wrote are just now starting to hit the first page, so you can see how long it's been and getting fairly little reward. I made $36 off Amazon so far which isn't bad, but I want to be making much more. What I think I'm going to do now is just invest another 1k into links and let the site rest while I work on my business.. hard to keep investing while I see no return.

I also am fucking BURNED OUT from writing. After writing over 100k words in a niche I don't care about, I'm over it. The issue is now I don't have budget to build links AND content, so I think I'm going to build links for now as I targeted bigger keywords. But I'm happy with the growth so far, starting to hit the hockey stick.

I wish I started in a different niche. It's ok though, hopefully I put in enough work to where the site can rank and start making some $$$. I have roughly 50/50 affiliate content so something like 45 affiliate articles that can start bringing me some cash.. or hopefully anyways lol.

Here's to hoping and I'll likely come back at a year and update this again.. or 2-3 months if I see some major growth.
