From what I have heard from others having a content locker may negatively affect search rankings for the page it's on. With that said I have found sites ranking for terms with a content locker on it. To be safe I would say an internal page that you are not trying to rank.

If you're looking to have SEO as your main marketing technique then I would say that you need to put your content locker on an internal page, as I believe this may negatively effect your search rankings. However, if you are using any other techniques to gain users then putting your content locker on the home page may be a good idea since doing otherwise could reduce your conversions.
