Hi, I've got a client in the travel sector and a negative Trip Advisor review is ranking on the first page for their brand name. The resort in question generally has very good reviews, but for some reason this negative one from 2012 is the one sticking on the first page. None of their social accounts rank on the first page despite being reasonably active on them. Any tips on pushing the review down?

It's kind of obvious... build some quality links with branded anchor text to the social pages and other good mentions.

Add some general anchor text links including naked urls to those positive pages.

Hire a reputation management firm or do it yourself. If you want to do it yourself, create blogs containing positive reviews and compile a list of the urls along with urls already ranking and containing positive reviews. Then optimize them (build links) until they hit the first page, outrank the negative review, and push it down.

    You answered your own question...

Fix that, by pushing those up, you will push the other one down.

Trying to negative SEO something for a client is incredibly risky because if you f*ck up and just give it more power then you're screwed. As it stands, you can get it off the first page very easily, but not if you start messing around.
