Recently a "Pure Spam" penalty hit on my site. Is it recoverable ? or should I buy a new domain?
Get new domain, will safe some money and time
Although it does not really make sense, this is often the message that people get when their site is caught using a public blog network. If you were using one and can get rid of those links, it is possible the site is salvageable. It will not recover to where it was though. Those links would have been helping the site to rank, so removing them is going to cause lower rankings.
What I usually recommend is build a new site while you work to recover this one. If you do manage to recover it, you end up with two sites ranking in the same space instead of one.
I wouldn't sit around waiting and hoping for it to come back though.
Anytime I've had a site get penalized it was never the same again regardless of removing links or not. Not to say it won't get better but it will never be great again.
As everyone has said, the best way is to get a new domain and rebuild again.
Unless it's a domain for your brand or one you feel attached to, I wouldn't bother with it.
Get a new domain and start safely
Just get a new domain and start again with it.
Yeah, if it's not an important domain, just count this as a lesson and move on.
Dump the domain and move on. Next time around be little careful in link building. As far as Google is concerned any type of link acquired is spam. So the risk is inevitable if you want to rank.
Edit: Ah, I was unaware of Google using the Pure Spam penalty for certain cases involving links now. Disregard the original post that was here.
301 old domain to new domain.
Getting a new domain should give you a peace of mind.
is it recoverable? possibly. but why deal w that, just move on to a new domain.
It seems like things have changed then. I know that people used to say that pure spam penalty used to be given mostly to websites that had very poorly written, scraped, spun etc content. However, I got hit by it around two weeks ago and I had superb content, but my links were pretty much "pure spam". Same thing happened to some other people I talked to and it happened around the same time.
Thats not correct, if you using PBN and get hit by "pure spam" penalty it's more often the links then the content.
That's interesting. I don't work with PBNs nor have I ever been hit with a manual penalty, so I was unaware that Google used the "Pure Spam" penalty in those extreme cases. Thanks for the update!
I went ahead and edited my original as well to prevent other members from alerting me about this.
sad, now i'm poor again, so I must go to work for 300$/month, 10 h/day, 6days/week
i receveid pure spam for new PREMIUM domain i have buy for 1800 $ 2 week ago and the profil of domain is clean and now i receveid pure spam before finish the website i have installed wordpress and not setup theme no add content :/
What exactly did you do to get this penalty? spam to money site or spam to some tiers or what?
