Just wondering if this is normal. Bought it on an auction. Went to domains view, domain was not there. Called customer support they said there needs to be paper work done and it takes 10 - 21 days for it to be transferred to me.

    Is this normal?

When you are buying domain from GoDaddy auctions the domain is not in fact expired yet - it still in grace period and the original owner can renew it - if this happens Godaddy will refund you. Anyway you are now waiting the grace period to be over and the GoDaddy will transfer the domain to you. Another reason for the delay is that often the domain you buy from godaddy is not actually held by them, but from another registrar, who is just selling in GoDaddy. In this case you have to wait for the transfer to happen (5-7 days).

Do not use godaddy even if they give you stuff for free - you will get scammed sooner or after

Yeah bullshit. GoDaddy never "scammed" anyone. They are greedy, expensive, incompetent, sure. But they are not scammers.

yes agreed, it cost alot.... if they didn't list that domain i would never have used them.

What???? The owner can renew it? Then what is the purpose of me paying for it in the first place? When I called they said it was guaranteed that it was mine....

Think about it. If they wait for the domain to be dropped first, how they will sell it? :) It will be available for registration for anyone - they cannot check millions of domains to know which ones are worth renewal. So what they do is put the domains at the auctions when the domain is in grace period (for .com is 30 days after the expiration - different TLDs have different grace period), and if the domain is renewed (GoDaddy charge $80 for renewal in grace) - too bad for you. If the domain is not renewed the highest bidder get it. Its not just GoDaddy, everyone do this, Namesilo, Dynadot and so on.

Here, e-mail from them about one of my domains that is expiring:

This is the typical life cycle of an expiring domain name:

Turning auto-renew on my account multiple times after I turn it off, renewing my products at ridiculous prices after I canceled them many months prior and more... I don't think scammer is an over-exaggeration
