I'm trying to scrape Google Scholar, and I've tried virgin high anonymous proxies from several reputable proxy sites, and I keep getting the following error:

Sorry, we can't verify that you're not a robot when JavaScript is turned off.
enable JavaScript in your browser and reload this page.

Is there a way to get around this? Do I need to purchase proxies which have JavaScript enabled? FYI I'm using Python's urllib2 package, if it doesn't have the functionality to spoof JavaScript, is there a Python package which does?

I don't think your issues are caused by proxies.

I guess you used HTTP/HTTPS proxies, and their only job is to connect your scraper to the mentioned service.

Have you tried changing the scraper, or look for ways to emulate a real browser?
