Guys, I've got a serious problem with one of my sites and need your help.

I launched the site back in january. It is an affiliate site, which means I publish posts with product information and a link to the vendor. I know that simple affiliate sites don't have a good stand, so I tried to add more value in form of a blog and various other features.

I began building backlinks using scrapebox in week 2 or 3, can't remember. But I didn't use my main domain (which is the exact keyword domain by the way). Instead I used two other related domains and gave both of them a 301 redirect to my main site. I blasted a few thousand comments over a period of 3 or 4 weeks. Don't know how many of them got accepted. But both of these 2 domains got a PR 4 because of that.

Later in March I discovered indenti.ca and used it to place my link on it. I think that was my biggest mistake, but I'm not sure. Because in April my site got an instant PR 4. I got many high PR defollow links from identi.ca. My site was PR 0 before that.

I think that was the point where my rankings suddenly dropped. Since weeks I don't get any visitors from google and my site is no where to be found on the first 50 pages for the main keyword. However, the identi.ca backlinks are gone now.

I stopped building backlinks after the PR update.

Last week I relaunched the site. Completly new design, new content, new structure. It is now better than ever. Google gave me my old rankings back (on page 2 for the main keyword). And I got my visitors back. But only for 2 days. On day 3 my page was gone again. But there are still a few hundred pages indexed.

Oh and I also removed the 301 redirects 2 days ago. I think it's maybe better to lose some of the high PR links. Don't know.

I don't know what I should do. I really need my rankings back, because the site has the potential to bring in a lot of money.

So do you have any ideas what I can do? I can only build websites and suck at almost everything else. Don't know how to build good backlinks nor how to get traffic. So any help is appreciated.

Oh and there is something else going on with my competitor: He has the same domain but with .org. He got the top spot on page 1 of google but has almost no backlinks. How can that be?

I added one of my sandboxed sites to the google webmaster toolbox in one of my gmail accounts and then hit resubmit for insertion and sent a nice comment how there were some SEO issues that were cleaned up and the site was just relaunched. About 5 days later it showed up in the CP and the site lived happily ever after

good luck

If you removed the 301, you lost all of your links that were pointing to that domain and redirected to your main domain. That is probably the reason you lost your rankings.

where can i find their toolbox?

you need to put 301 links back on...lol haha

you deindexed yourself :D

No, you got that wrong. The ranking dropped long ago, back in april. I removed the 301's just two days ago. So that has nothing to do with it.

@sunshyne: That sounds interesting. I may do that.

Any other suggestions? Should I start a new blast campaign with scrapebox?

What kind of links? Comments? Profiles? Would these be enough?

Allow me to push this topic up again.

As sunshyne suggested I used the form to submit the site for reconsideration. I wonder how long it will take for my message to be processed.

Are there any other ideas what I can do? And I still need to know what kind of backlinks I should aim for. I really suck at backlink building. :(

Build a brand new site and redirect the "old" site with a 301 after the site get indexed

can be up to 10 days from my experience. Relax and dont sweat until then.

Link building can be done 10000 different ways. PM me your info and I can make some suggestions if you want.

Don't worry so much if you just put it up redesigned, you are just seeing an initial bounce if it re-appeared briefly then disappeared again. This usually happens when I have overhauled a site.

Anymore, I expect the sandbox effect to happen to all of my new sites. Worst case on any of them was three months and it was my first.

I made the mistake of stopping link building on it and it took longer to come back.

Broken record: Keep building links.

This happens a lot with my websites, normally after 7-15 days the website back.
