Hey everyone! :)

Friend is setting up a record label and is asking me to help optimize / get visitors to his site.

Any advice?

I supose I could do PPC and Articles etc but that's more niche related.

hmmmm

Myspace, Bebo, etc... is the best place for promoting through bands :D

I understand craigslist, myspace etc. But im asking HOW do you promote it?
What would you do on myspace, bebo etc?

Well personally i would invest in some nice graphics, i.e good size banners for myspace comments, then i would make an amazing myspace profile page, the better it looks and more fun more people will add you and accept your friend requests, i would then go around targeting the music people and friend adding as many as possible unsigned bands and either, mass commenting automatic or hand picking, theres lots of myspace bots out there, you can mass comment on people using your made banner that will link to your site.

A creative way to do this is to make a funny image jpg on http://yourdomain.com/ad.jpg but this text says something like thanks for the ad same size as what you want your spam to be, link it to your website, then after a while replace ad.jpg with your big big big banner. When you swap it will swap it in all the comments too, as some people moderate comments. It will get added in if you only use a tiny smiley or something :P linked to your page.

Another method would be to run a competition saying $200 or something for every band that adds you as a friend to have a chance to win a contract and $200 or whatever you can imagine, that will surely pull attention.

Bebo is simliar only they dont allow html. Myspace though can be a gold mine for your niche.

Good luck

"unsigned bands"

NOW WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT!

Do the myspace bots have find "unsigned bands" option?

Any specific bot for the music industry or will friend blaster pro be alright?

Thanks

:D

Since you ask in a BH forum my answer must be.. Skip the website.. Release all the music from that record label on TPB and other torrent sites. Pack it with some PPI and start making money.

If the music is good enough it will end up there sooner or later anyway so you might just as well be the first to seed it. *irony

Honestly.. Be creative. Go a little bit against the stream and don't do as all the other record labels. Do release some of the music on sites where you find a lot of people who don't do other then spend their day's searching for music and other media. TPB is great for this and the money you don't make today by giving away the music can be taken home later instead by building a brand name.

Why not make a release party on a major torrentsite? It doesn't have to be all the music but make some singles available and then preferable a video release or something like that.

I'm going to have to bump this thread because I find it very interesting. I'm in a hip hop duo called the five percenters. This is our myspace. http://www.myspace.com/mykblaze

Right now i'm just doing friend adding but this got me thinking about how to specifically target people who would make the best fans. Does anyone have more ideas?

I was also thinking about a blackhat method to approach this. Couldn't you release your music on all the peer to peer networks labeled as the latest top 40 song and/or music that you think is similair to your own and then when they play the mp3 it says something like "Sorry this isn't the file you were looking for but you might like us anyway so continue listening. This is the 5 percenters." Then give out the myspace address while the music is picking up.

Do you have any good artists yet?

Youtube a sick song or two, going to a squeeze page for free downloads from the artist.

Give these sick songs away on music forums...

Have a suggest a band/group button on the site.

Get those fake money flyers with your business/website info, and drop them at startup band related events. Like band battles, rap battles, and other contests...

Have a contest to sign an artist or band. Work out a deal with local businesses and give something away to the winner and runner ups.

I will put some more thought juice into this and hop back on in a bit...

sorry Harro, didn't see your contest idea...:happysad:
