Hi everyone. I just launched my new forum. I was wondering what is the best way to promote it. I am looking for blackhat or whitehat methods. I have put up a contest so that whoever posts the most in the next month wins $100 but i need help on getting people there. The url is OMG HARRO SNIPPED IT

If you see anything wrong with it let me know. Thanks

Yeah, if you want to post live links to your blog/website/whatever for others to review it, you have to enclose it in CODE tags. no link spamming allowed.

alrite sorry about that..i didnt mean to break the rules..so any advice please?

Just be careful about rewarding people for posting the most. The individual may simply post a lot of worthless stuff that for example on this forum pisses people off. Examples would be replying to threads and saying "thanks" or "nice post."

It would be more productive in the long run to reward people for quality contributions.

want to hear more advice from this topic too....

Okey... first of all I'm no forum guru but this is my point of view.

Starting a forum is probably one of the hardest things you can do
especially in the making money online niche, not saying it can't be
done but it's not enough to have a contest to drive people to it.

First you HAVE to know what your talking about, people have to see
they aren't just getting copy paste methods from other forums. you
have to interact with your member and keep them happy at all time.

Second, don't do this all by your self... can't be done, managing a
forum is a huge responsibility. You have to have rules and you have to
stick with them which means you have to have your eye on almost
every post that get's posted, you don't want it to get full of spam
posts and bad language. People have to see that you are serious and
that this is your kingdom!!!

Third, offer value...! give people a reason to listen to you and take
your advice. This can be in creating your own style of using a method,
creating your own method and give it to your members, don't start
selling to them right after you say HELLO,
give them free scripts, templates, programs, etc.... that will help them
on there way to making there first dollar online.

Forth, Make your forum look professional with good design and treat this
like any other website you would want to drive traffic too. Make a blog,
write article about it, make a press release and don't forget SEO.
---

This is all stuff I would look into before spending my time registering.
Even though I just listed bunch of stuff that would take a lot of time to
complete, this is something every new visitor can see in a matter of
seconds...

Hope it helps, also I hope you do start a forum and make big, big, big money ;)

later,

Ive run a forum since March. I have about 400 registered users. a little over half have posts, which is encouraging. A lot come back daily. I now have 15000 posts, in about 3100 threads. Its getting there, but its very slow, you keep expecting one day to wake up with 1000 users and new posts every 5 minutes. it takes a while... I'm not sure what the magic number is but sooner or later it'll turn exponential (prolly when i make it to big-boards.com)

Just make sure you keep em busy with fresh content.

Another popular method is to pay people 10 cents per post (sometimes more) so it looks like there is activity on your forum. This will hopefully encourage non-paid individuals to join your forum and participate.

You can also do this without paying something, just make yourself everyday a new member and post 1 post every day, going the next day with every member 1 post up..

Like this:
Day 1: 1 Member - 1 Post
Day 2: Member 1 - 2 new Postings / Member 2 - 1 Post
Day 3: Member 1 - 3 new Postings / Member 2 - 2 new Postings / Member 3 - 1 Posting

And so on, until you reach with a member 8 posts a day, then you stop and post just sometimes with it.

This makes your forum looks like there is live, not many people will register if the forum looks like dead.
