Top 5 Seo Projections for 2013

    1. Google Author Rank markup will be the basis of ranking

Google+ has launched the rel=?author? markup which enables you as an author to link up all the articles you published. When this snippet of code is added to your blog and your content, your headshot in your Google+ profile will appear beside the search results. Empowering author rank, this thus makes your authority more known to the public.
Jon Payne, President and Founder of Ephricon Web Marketing, explains further that Google begins to look at trusted links coming from the same author source. The forecast is that instead of Page Rank, Author Rank will matter more to search engines in the last two quarters of 2013. So as early as now, you must claim authorship of all your content in the web with this Google author rank markup

    2. Guest posting will be devalued by Google

Guest posting works by publishing posts in other blogs and capturing audience in the same niche to get them connected to your own. In essence, this allows you to expand your followers and fan base. But earlier this year, Penguin and Panda came to effect. They changed the original paradigm by configuring the algorithmic weights of guest posts.
There are various spam guest posts created on the web. Hence, Google is now not so much in favor of guest posting, as it sees these ?post exchanges? only as a manipulator or search engine results. On the other hand, if you have been solely submitting posts with good quality, then you should not be affected negatively by any Google updates for the years to come.

    3. Social signals will highly affect the SERPs.

As there is now so much traffic booming in social media, Google may have to get good use of these channels to position content in search engine. Closer to home is its very own: Google+. The Google Plus system can potentially bring much weight in determining whether or not the page or content has been helpful to readers. Posts with more social sharing points (+1?s) will be given a greater deal in SEO.
However, there are also rampant manipulations of shares. Case in point is Facebook likes and recommendations. Another is Twitter likes and favorites. Services are available in the Internet wherein these social shares can be bought with money to gain credits in turn. Google has to figure out a way to track these incidents for social signals to reign as appropriately.

    4. Highly increasing personalized search results will be recognized.

Google works to provide relevant search results to users. What better way to cater this service than producing personalized search results? Google identifies the user?s location and search engine activities. For instance, location-based search results from Google will prioritize pages from your country to top in the results page. You will see a different set of posts coming out of the first page when you change your location setting in Google.

    5. Technical parameters such as page titles and descriptions will have greater bearing in SEO.

CEO of CompeteLeap, Ryan Draving, says that spinning articles with poor grammar will not be counted by Google as a hit. Obtusely written titles and descriptions of pages and posts will also be useless. Google hunts those websites solely created to advertise brands without engagement with users. Draving adds that Google expects to see your legitimate brand or company name attached in the majority of your inbound blog links.

Many of these predictions are based on the natural progressions of Google updates as seen in the recent months. Keeping up with Google changes in SEO algorithms is challenging

Meanwhile people will still continue making money SEOing with 1000's of web 2.0 backlinks + high PR comments with a pyramid structure.

If one were to believe the drivel in this thread we'd all just give up SEO and focus on 'quality'.

It's such a ridiculous post that really nothing else needs to be said. It's just a case of someone that's been drinking too much Google kool-aid. :)

All good stuff, thanks for this. It's a innovating industry this SEO is and quite frankly the ones making the most money love the change as there always 2 steps ahead. Great times indeed.

Nobody can predict where Google is going with their future updates, or what kinds of links they'll value or devalue. Nobody. You can try, but it's merely speculation.

The whole piece reads like something Google would pass along to someone hoping that people read it and will change how they act to follow with G's intention. It's adorable.

Only thing that looks legitimate, because it's already happening, is the increasing localized search. If you've had a Google account for a while(~2004), you know you get tweaks and changes to your account before other people do. Log in and do a search, then do the same search logged out. It used to be that logged in would get you a more localized result, logged out wouldn't...Now sometimes, both are localized and traced simply by IP. Hopefully they don't go ahead with simply tracing via IP, because that will give too many false positives to build the kind of database that increases with accuracy.

Guest posting will not be reduced in value, but will inevitably get a boost via authorship. Guest posts are being increasingly seen as a social signal instead of just a post. Two writers with authorship communicating with each other will be seen as social networking. Try this now: Guest post on shitty sites, and guest post between another blog owners with a site they attach their name to and see how your rank increase.

Titles and Descriptions cannot make a come back, unless Google wants to remove any progress made through any update. Next they'll be saying meta tags will come back. From what I've seen using just Yoast plugin: Get a Green rating and your page will skyrocket in ranking, and it seems to be at the moment that if you know how to write, simply increasing word density works. I have seriously done better with a 6% keyword density post (which is ludicrous as the keyword phrase repeats over and over, but does so "organically") than with one that is 2-3% and looks much more natural. We still have to put up with a dumb as hell keyword algorithm, and will continue to do so for a while. The infrastructure for LSI/semantic searching is simply not there and will not be there for a few years at least.

People think Google and its employees are geniuses or some super-entity, but that simply isn't the case considering the level at which we on BHW are succeeding and have been for years. They don't have the infrastructure to even trace IPs efficiently, so how could anyone believe they have the ability to truly find your network/SEO footprint? If I can find your footprint, they can; If I can't, they can't. This last statement may seem arrogant, but realize this: The ones who get penalized are the ones who care not for subtlety and have no idea how to dissimulate.

I personally feel that those of us who survived all this years dramas will have a great year. (I've got no real reasons to suspect this other than a gut feeling, but I'm still gonna buy a big new house because of it)

    You had me until here.

Google indeed says they work to do those things but experience tells me they're just another company that favors big business and their own revenue stream through adsense. I don't buy their company propaganda line. Unpredictability in search results sells adwords.

Has anyone here ever gotten what they wanted in detail from an about.com or ehow article? Me neither.

    1. if this happens, it will simply destroy searches. at least if u call it as "basis of ranking"...
    2. non-sense... because contextual backlinks from NICHE RELATED sites are the most powerful backlink u can get. unless site's guest post is crap in the first place.
    3. this will never happen for the reason of what is written... if google give much value to it, it will raise even more the web spam.
    4. I agree with this one, however this is happening for ages.
    5. if done right, this still can be done...thats all i say about this one :)

its kinda funny that u posted this in BHW actually... however u never said that u agree with this right? :):)

Yup I basically disagree with everything here.

What will Google do about extremely well written, perfect grammar 1000-1500% unique spun content I wonder... absolutely jack sh*t?

The more of these things Google does the easier SEO becomes and more spam filled their engine will get... so I highly doubt any of this crap will happen. If Google operates under the assumption that social signals are hard to forge, they'll be in for a rude awakening.
