Hi, I've been interested in trying out geniusintelligence.com for a while now and I simply didn't have the time to. I'm quite free these days (not to mention incredibly bored) therefore I've decided to give it a go. Most of the information in the ebook seems legit - I've researched them. Anyway, here's a link to the ebook for anyone who needs it.
    Code:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=cdac58cfc1d85aaf61d4646c62b381cb665ae40ccfa2b339c95965eaa7bc68bc
    the password is d3136q

Furthermore, here is a link to Dual N Back - a game that also increases your fluid intelligence (short term memory) and directly increases I.Q. by 20 points over a period of a few months. All of these exercises are Ph.D. backed with tons of research.

    Code:
    http://brainworkshop.sourceforge.net/
So I was going to post my daily progress here if ya'll don't mind and see what my I.Q. is after 6 months of consistent training. I thought it would be fun to do this and my website simultaneously (also while learning italian haha - VERY cool language).

So if anyone else is interested in joining me, let me know - it will be fun :p. I'm not sure how to measure my current I.Q. legitimately because most online tests are bogus + I have maxed them out (except for a few super difficult ones). I'll take a mensa test in 6 months and see what they say. I'm definitely no genius I'll tell you that heh.

I apologize for the sedo parked link earlier - honest mistake.

Link revised. I'm not the owner of that site and I forgot it was on sourceforge. The program is FREE as everything I provide on bhw is. I don't want clicks or anything in return. (Already have an income :))

    As for dual n back:

    Wired.com approved-
    Code:
    http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2008/04/smart_software
    Code:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-back_task
    Code:
    http://www.docstoc.com/docs/2863726/Brain-Exercises-Software
Basically, it's completely legitimate. Do it if you like. If you don't oh well heh.

Well, well... now you're venturing into one of my biggest interests and specialties. ;)

Multi n-back and dual-n back more specifically are designed to improve your working memory, but it's too early now to talk about long-term consequences of frequent training sessions. According to the results of a little bit uncalibrated psychological study (done on too small scale), practice of 10+ sessions a day over a period of 2 months (afari) has led to an ST increase in IQ test score of just 8 points on average.

Regarding the Win Wenger and his methods, he has some nice ideas, but I'm afraid they won't really lead to long-term cognitive performance boosts, unless some legitimate studies show me differently. But I would like to hear more about your IS trainings and results, though. By analyzing the brain activation during IS, I can say that it probably is beneficial as a brain enhancing training method (more precisely, it improves interhemispheric communications via corpus callosum, and eventually improves linguistic intelligence and consequently, eloquence and effective word manipulation and sentence forming).

I've done some research about neuroplasticity and effects of brain training on ST & LT cognitive performances, and I've been researching everything related to cognitive performance improvement for some time now, and I'm currently working on a set of applications and games in .NET / XNA that will offer facilities for improvement of all the known major classifications of intelligences, primarily visual/spatial, math/logical and linguistic intelligences.

Besides that, I'm planning to make a niche site about that, just to share my discoveries, thoughts, teachings and connect with like-minded people.

Pewep, you should give a lumosity a try (google it). It's another web based suite of brain training games, but this one is commercial. You can try as much of free trials as you like, though.

Well, enough writing. Probably many of people here are not practicing speed reading so I shouldn't steal their precious time. ;)

Please continue documenting your progress, I'm subscribing. :)

Well the most legitimate method would be contacting Mensa, if I recall you have to book an appointment and travel to a location to take the test.

Or find a psychologist specializing in intelligence testing and ask him for some accredited test. You can find a list of decent accredited IQ tests on sites of most of high IQ societies. There are some paid online IQ tests that are legitimate enough (Logica Exiguus series, Logima Strictica, Trilogica, Insight Opus, TST, etc...).

I think I will join you in the n-back training. Just wondering, how many sessions are you doing per day, what's your current n-factor, and what's your current tested IQ (if I may ask ;))?

Polymath, thanks for the read. Yeah I'll be updating you on it.

Currently I do 30 minutes worth of sessions at different speeds (usually at 1.25 seconds per new info). Usually that adds to about 25-35 different sessions.

Dual 5 back now. Average is roughly 70%. Dual 4 back got too easy (brain workshop rules).

I'm not sure which focus study you were quoting, but the one I read about specifically said that the people involved practiced for between 25-40 minutes for roughly 2 weeks and had an average I.Q. raise of 15 points. As you pointed out it does improve fluid intelligence (which again indirectly improves overall intelligence) but unfortunately no long term studies have been done. Wegner is nice but most of his work is quite unscientific. Image streaming has been tested far beyond what he imagined and there's quite a bit of documented work out there (I can post some if you'd like). Anyway cheer's mate. Looking forward to seeing what happens.

Note: Italian is BLOODY hard to pronounce right.

I'll find some Image streaming test & research documents. ;)

And I agree about Italian... But it's nothing compared to Arabic.
