Hey guys -

I'm learning html programming etc - because im keen on creating my very own - but niche - website like Freelancer.
What programs were used to create that website?

I dont want to clone - but i want to create something similar - i just need to know what programs are being used to create that website.

Their technology stack description starts at slide #15:
Code:

Thank you very much guys!

Here's another question - your opinion.

I'm creating similar to freelancer but is very, very niche - system is similar...
Now - what are your thoughts.

1. get a clone script and make my edits/changes
2. build from scratch?

Thanks :)

It would definitely be easier and less time consuming to find a clone and make modifications based on your requirements than to write it all from scratch.

Developing something like Freelancer could take months even if you have a team of good developers. You should start off with a 3rd Party script.
If you really want to build from scratch you will need to know at least:
- Server side programming language (PHP, ASP, JSP etc.)
- Database (MySQL, MsSQL, Oracle...)
- Knowledge of HTML/Javascript for front end development

Oh and HTML is not a programming language :)

1. Hire a freelancer to customize a script. "Fastest" costs $$$ You'll need a team
2. Learn how to think in code and write it. "Slow" costs some $ and you'll need help still
3. Pivot and work on something you can already do. "unknown" ??

If I were you I would consider each of these options and choose what suits your needs best.

This can be created using any server side programming language, choosing the right stack will be depends on various factors, like market size, time and fund.

Finding a clone would be easy to get a quick start, test, if you have enough traction, then rise some fund, then build a scalable one.

Did you know any programming languages? you can choose tools according to your familiarity.

WOW...
Thank you guys :) Yes, i'm more inclined to get a 3rd party script and working from that base. 50% of the premises/functions work the same way just i'm modifying to fit into the niche im doing.
I would like build a basic design, test for traction and see how that goes.

I'm torn between these two:
1. Agriya: Getlancer
2. Codecanyon: Freelancer Pro (Responsive)

What are your thoughts, guys?
Thank you.

First its best to build your own from scratch instead of cloning. This way, you will learn at the same time. Though if you mean look at others code to see how it done, I suppose that works too.

I know PHP is definitely involved and JavaScript but these take months or even years to perfect. You have a lot of learning to do if you want to create a site like Freelancer.

Buy a clone script for $100 or something - otherwise you will waste months of time to make something not as good.

Yes i would buy the clone script. You said that you are learning html. It will take you a good while to learn all the php, mysql, and java that you would need to build it.

yes, i also recommend you to buy this, at the time you learned the skills needed for such a tricky system you would have earned 50 times the cost of the clone in the meanwhile if you delivered pizza.
