I just cant seem to find an angle to attack this market at. I have a product I've been selling for over a year, but all my traffic to date has been from mostly manually messaging people about it. I have a couple YouTube videos advertising it but naturally they have few views.

I tried Facebook ads, but they seem to convert little to none of the people reached (attempted it more than once with different audiences). At this point I'm just not sure what I can do. Without giving too much away, the product I'm selling is a WordPress theme.

I need to convert this to a completely passive business or I'm going to have to do something else because at the moment I feel I could be making more money with the time I put in.

No, but with my current reach, I doubt i'd be able to get many people on board. It is something I haven't thought much of though so I guess I could consider it.

Do you currently have a content marketing strategy? Apart from the commercial pages, do you have a blog where you got good content about the product and related subjects?

No, and to be honest that's my problem. I don't see a way to link any enjoyable content to my product.

JVZoo or one of those sites may be an option.

Maybe you should outsource that creative part to a good content marketing team?

Believe me, good content marketers can write about *anything*.

If you ain't ready to swallow your pride and outsource/hire other people then you aren't ready to make money.

How about a lead magnet? Do you have anything related that you could give away, and then have the theme as an upsell? So maybe some vaguely related plugin, give the plugin a price of £10 but then have a "Sign up to receive this plugin for free" type landing page. Collect emails using the free plugin and then message them to upsell the theme.

Disclaimer - I'm drunk and don't know anything about internet marketing

How many words are you needing and what kind of content exactly? Just blogging, or copywriting?

Also above you said Wordpress theme, have you put it on Themeforest?

not too bad an idea for being drunk :D the art of the upsell...i forgot about that. Will definitely look back into it/

i've been selling it on another platform because themeforest takes a decent cut and I don't see the benefits

the content would be blogging, not sure how many words tbh.
Enough to entice visitors to buy :)

Money is money man. If you only get 30% of a $50 sale, but still end up making 100 sales, that you would have never made if you didn't list it on Themeforest, then that's $1500 not funnelling into your bank account.

There are broadly 2 types of products, revolutionary and evolutionary.

Revolutionary is brand new nothing really like it and so you have to educate buyers BEFORE they buy.

Evolutionary is an update of something that already exists, typically better, faster, cheaper etc. They are easier to sell because you don't have to first educate.

What type of product would you say yours is?

On Fiverr, $5 gets you a 500 word article. So that would be at least 60 if you negotiate a little, which is enough for a basic niche site.
I do recommend to "test" the writers, there's a lot of crappy ones. PM if you need a few reliable writers.

List it wherever possible. Most markets will already have buyers that might find your theme just browsing the market site.

Have you thought about giving your wordpress theme away for free in a limited version? Just remove some settings options (most wp users can't do very special things in code so they need the settings) and some features and try to get free downloads for your theme. Do you have a demo site up and running where people can see if they like your site? Market for wordpress themes is really competitive and if I'm looking for a wordpress theme and have no option to try it out, I'll already be gone looking for the next one, because most likely there's another solution on the market that does fit my needs.

Always give your best to satisfy your Customers. If you are really taking it serious and have a theme with some advanced functions than offer some kind of FAQ and Tutorial sections where you explain the features. Non-tech savvy persons usually are willing to spend a few bucks on a nice theme that has a lot of features and is easy to customize. But you have to make them feel comfortable.
