Problem with hostwinds affiliate program. Is this normal?

I had $130 ish commission due from hostwinds. I requested payment, they said they'd paid me. I didn't receive anything. I chased this and they said they'd sent it to my PayPal and it had the status of "unclaimed".

I figured out that I accidentally missed out a single character from my PayPal email address. In informed them of this but they claim they can't do anything. Which after looking at the PayPal support is untrue. While it's unclaimed it can be cancelled, or thats how I interpreted it anyways.

Is this typically behaviour from a web hosting affiliate? Anyone had any good / bad experiences with hostwinds affiliate before?

I moved on, tried before did not get my payment. The percentage is a bad deal compared to $100 once off for most anyway. Furthermore had so much trouble with them in the past (could not get a freaking invoice to keep a coupon on and suspended my account couple of times)
