Problem Posting on Gumtree

Hey,

First, let me introduce myself. I am an unnamed coconut from a random palm tree on a little inconspicuous island in the middle of nowhere. I've only recently gotten involved with Affiliate Marketing, and after a brief encounter with this forum, decided that in regards to short-term results, this is the way I wanna go forward with my campaigns. Right now I'm concentrating with getting some targeted traffic from Gumtree, but I'm having some serious problems posting, as all of my adverts just get removed automatically. By the way, the site I am advertising for is World Dating Partners, which I have heard is better than Adult Friend Finder.

These are the measures I have taken so far:

  • I have installed Tor with Privoxy and configured Tor to use a British IP as an exit node, so that every advert seems to have been posted from the United Kingdom.
  • I have created a unique Google Mail account for every new advert, in case they block accounts for spamming.
  • I have made sure that every advert includes unique content and that there are no email or website links in the main body of the message.

Despite these measures, I am still not getting anywhere. When I first started, one advert got through and I still earn around $10 every month from the commission it generated. I know this is not much, but for one 10 minute post, it seems pretty good to me right now.

Has Gumtree introduced new security measures, and is everyone experiencing this greater difficulty in posting? Or, am I being an idiot and need to take several other precautions? I also just had a thought, maybe I shouldn't use any photographs? I assume that they would need to be approved manually before appearing on the site, but as every picture I have used was appropriately clothed - no one spread eagled or anything - I don't see why this would be an issue. I imagine that having no sexy photographs would also impact on the number of hits though, as no one would know if they're talking to some overweight whale or some petite nymphomaniac who likes posing in front of a camera.

I would appreciate any help with my Gumtree endeavours!! Thanks :)

2 problems is 1. world dating partners will close the account when they find you posting on gum. 2. using tor is an outdated option. gum has closed that down.

Thanks for the reply. Could you recommend an alternative to Tor, or throw some advice out there that I could research on Google?

Hey! Just a quick update. I am having some success now, and I am still using Tor. I am not using any photographs in the adverts, and have limited the exit nodes so that they are all in Britain. It seems to only cycle between 14 IPs, so it might be only a little while before Gumtree get onto it and ban those nodes too, but so far, so good! :)

Hey Namelesscoconut,

I personally would use a VPN (from findnot or strongvpn - google them). It may cost you a little per mouth, but when you are earning it becomes loose change.

I wish you every good luck with your ventures.

Thanks for the reply Biffo, I'll check them out! I came across Virtual Private Networks when researching how Tor could be configured to connect to nodes in a specific country, but I didn't follow through with the research yet.

Hey! So... I've done a little research online, and came across this forum post on Findnot. Most of the concerns seem a bit too paranoid, and sound like conspiracy theories about Big Brother watching over us than anything else, but you can never be too cautious. This is an example of what I have read on Findnot:

Findnot, as I see it is not fundamentally flawed regarding its technical function as a proxy. But research on that firm, shows it is owned by a western government, pretending to be a legitimate proxy company. They actively share information to UK, USA, CA, DE, FR and AU governments.

Has anyone here had any bad experiences with Findnot? Problems like them closing your account for 'abuse' even when its used properly? I have read that Metropipe is better, but to what degree remains something to find out.
