So I have this city guide website which I have managed to get ranked number 2 on g00gle.c0m for "city-name hotels" and then number 6 for "city-name flights". I am getting about 200 - 300 for "city-name hotels" and a about 50 for "city-name flights" everyday now. I am also working on getting it in the top for "city-name flights" so that traffic should be increasing very soon.

Then I am getting tons of traffic for the specific hotels in the city. I have done reviews for a bunch of the hotels in the city. However I am having such a hard time monetizing this traffic. I signed up for CJ.com to try and get hotels.com or expedia.com on there. First off the only program that has accepted me in CJ.com is hotels.com and I have applied for pretty much every single hotel program on there and after about 2 weeks still not a word from the other programs.

I would love is to have like a hotel search/booking widget included on my site. Hotels.com has one but it sucks balls its straight up html and so ghetto and ugly. Can't believe such a big website/company doesn't have more and better promotional material for their affiliates. Anyways if anybody out there know how I could monetize these potential hotel and flight bookers better I would really appreciate your tips! I am really leaving money on the table here!

Btw making about $4 - 5 bucks a day on adsense but that feels like nothing when I am getting such targeted traffic. If I posted this in the wrong forum then mods please feel free to move it. Again thanks for your advice on this!
And to add a little humor to the thread here you have a whale high fiving a diver.

Could you please check this site:

    Code:
    http://www.widgetbox.com/search?q=hotels
    http://www.widgetbox.com/search?q=flights
    or
    http://www.widgetbox.com/tag/hotels
    http://www.widgetbox.com/tag/flights
These are just widgets. So maybe they may lead you to some better affiliate programs.

Try Kayak.com. Tell them about your website and the traffic...

I have a similar site and I've monetized it differently. I have pages on specific hotels with reviews of the hotels (positive of course) and sell them advertising. For instance the local Ramada has a page on my site and I laud and applaud them, have a map to their location, what is nearby and contact information.

I bill all of them on a monthly basis.

In addition to that, I have taken it another step further and added pages for some of the things to do (boat rental places, charter boats, tours etc) and sold them pages on my site as well. Same set up, laud and applaud them, location, contact info etc.

That site is an automatic 1700.00 a month now and all I do is let my paypal automatically charge them for their subscription and send them the occasional email with traffic stats.

That is a great idea! I am going to think it over a little but I might implement something like that. I too write about the attractions in the city and so on. THANKS for sharing!

I used to own an advertising agency so for me it was a no brainer. Remember this when you are choosing to call on "Those who advertise, advertise."

If company A is advertising in the mint magazine, local newspapers, billboards, etc, they will advertise on your site especially if they get an exclusive. My city has a lot of charter boats but I sold an exclusive to one guy... it has a lot of party boats but I sold an exclusive to one of them.

Chinese/ItalianGreek/etc restaurants get exclusives for their particular cuisine... the list is endless.

why exclusive if you can earn more non exclusive? Like why sell exclusive to one restaurant for 1000$ when you can sell to 10 of them for 300$?
