I have a site right now that lost a bunch of Google organic traffic.

However my plan B is to simply start hitting the other traffic sources. But I need to be able to track which traffic sources' performance. How can I do this without creating tons of duplicate pages on my site each with separate affiliate links?

    How can I do this:

Youtube ---------->-MY Site -> Affiliate Link -->Sale from Youtube Traffic
Yahoo Answers -->-MY Site -> Affiliate Link -->Sale from YA! Traffic
Forums -----------> MY Site -> Affiliate Link --> Sale from Forum Traffic
PPC ---------------> MY Site -> Affiliate Link --> Sale from PPC Traffic
Social Media ----->MY Site -> Affiliate Link --> Sale from SM Traffic

Is there a way to make Dynamic affiliate links that serve seperate links depending on where the traffic originated from? Would I need to create entire duplicates with different links just to cope with different traffic sources so I can track which ones actually bring me the sales??

How can I tell if a sale converted from PPC, YA!, or organic traffic???

Would love some advice on this.

    Thank you!

Hi, rather than provide a link (not sure its allowed) ;)

Do a search for a self hosted solution... keywords are 'prosper 202'
or they have a free hosted equivalent... keywords are 'tracking 202'

    Hope these help.

I'm interested in viewing your site if you can PM me the link.

    All the best.

You can track where the user came from who clicked your afflink, after they leave your page you can't follow their actions using "legit" ways.
( just a simple method: yoursite/index.php logs ip and referrer ----- yoursite/redirect-to-afflink.php reads log so knows where the user came from )

However.. technically you can track purchases or completed offers or any off-site activity also.. the method would be:
    1. redirect-to-afflink.php knows the traffic source.
    2. it opens the afflink in a fullscreen iframe
    3. checks if it can use XSS based on user agent.
    4. use xss to check for completed offer/purchase

Consider that some people are faking their user agent, and sending an xss to a wrong user can get you in trouble.
Not too likely because those guys who can spot a well executed "exploit" won't click on ads anyway... but there's always a risk.

I won't post any code here since i guess it's considered "hacking" by the standards of this forum.
And also... it can be used for much worse things than just tracking conversations.

I'll check them out again, from what I remember they are PPC tracking for multiple keywords. But maybe they do much more thanks
